Liverpool Football Club's finest players are to release a version of Johnny Cash's immortal 'Ring Of Fire' to coincide with their appearance in the FA Cup Final.
Stevie G, Peter Crouch et al will do their best to sing in something like a tune alongside Echo And The Bunnymen's Ian McCulloch. The song - as sung by fans following the team's Champion's League exploits, apparently - is to be recorded this week and will be available to download on May 14th.
Ian Gordon of Oxegen Music spoke to the Liverpool Echo:
"It's a song that means so much to Liverpool fans and sounds great on the terraces. Ian was keen to get involved as he's a fanatical Liverpool fan and has had a season ticket since he was a kid."
The FA Cup Final is this Saturday, of course. Liverpool will face off against Tottenham-bashing West Ham in Cardiff, but that's not important. What is important is how Liverpool's version of 'Ring Of Fire' will compare to Cable's. Obviously.
The song will be available via Liverpool's official website, with proceeds going to the Marina Daglish Appeal.
!
I can't imagine that Cisse is much of a Cash fan...
as a liverpool fan
I think this might be a place further down than Anfield Rap and only means the underdog will win - bah!
aha
being scousers they should change the lyric to "im gonna steal your fucking tyres"
I much prefer
You'll never work again to be honest.
Up the hammers and Marlon Harewood!
Cable's version of Ring Of Fire is immensely good
...Liverpool's version, however, is a pile of pants. Dirty ones. That Crouch has played in. i.e. it's terrible.
i 'd expect more of Mr McCulloch, frankly.
cricket
apparently the english cricket team listened to this before going out and thrashing the indians in the last test over the winter. the johnny cash version not the liverpool one, obviously
they better have an accompanying video
i wanna see a peter crouch rap, too
"you may call me a gangly freak
but the sight of me make you knees weak
for i'm the jolly giant, who looks like timmy
and i'm out for blood, gimme, gimme, gimme"
sorry, that was poor.
I can't wait to get this for my gf
I hope she likes it more than the Wisconsin Marching Band doing "Louie Louie." That one caused some problems.

Liverpool Ring of Fire
The Ring of Fire has been adopted by the kopites and was played by a supporters club as there theme tune, or so I am led to believe......we have been playing it on our coach on the way home from games since 2004/05 season. The tune of which liverpool fc are getting people to download is for the Marina Dalglish fund, a cancer charity, a very good way to get some nice little pennies.....the market is for obvious reasons aimed directly at LFC Fans, and when you think that this is one of the songs which was highlighted on our biug euro win back in 05, then for anyone to say that it wont be a winner just cos you cant download to ipod is silly, the club has one of the highest fan bases around the world, this song means alot to people and even those who dont go like to learn the songs....not sure why, maybe to sit at home and listen to it on radio, and the club have marketed it well too.....making it out to be fa cup song....lol....the fa cup song is shit on the cockneys shit on the cockneys today. Congrats to the hammers, Runners up in the fa cup 06....well done !!!!
I do agree with people on some things....this version is rubbish.....should of just released the original with editing of LFC Crowd etc etc, and a few player raps here and there too

Furthermore.....
The assistant referees from the FA Cup Final are collaborating on their own version of I Walk The Line......
