Band reforming crazyness continues.

While Paul Weller's official website has a recent news story saying "the gig in Hartford is not going to happen, due to very little ticket sales," it seems the word on the 'street' is that his seminal old band The Jam are reforming.

Wagging tongues by excited mod types suggest they will be playing anything between three and five nights at Knebworth in Spring 2004.

Cor.

It could be really, really shit though. But at least it's not Style Council.

Meanwhile, Weller has been writing new material and playing acoustic gigs in America. He's back in the UK for dates before the end of the year as well.

Just like star wars, these things are best left back then.

It'll be shit. In my opinion. And I really like the Jam.

Fuck, I hope not.

They were offered shitloads of money to reform a couple of years back. Weller said no. I can't see him changing his mind.

If they reformed I would have to go, but I cannot see them living up to the Jam gigs I saw from '79 - 83.

How can you sing the likes of When You're Young with conviction when you are in your forties. You can't!!!

It's like the Who singing My Generation. "Hope I die before I get old"..... They are old.

I agree, I grew up with the Jam, had the scooter n all, saw them at the Apollo. I fuckin loved them, but that was over 20 years ago. Some things are best left alone...

The Jam? Knebworth? No way. There's more chance of The Beatles reforming - have you read that Jam book? Those guys can't stand Weller and rightly so. And besides, The Jam aren't big enough for Knebworth anymore. Never were in fact. After all, if Weller can't shift tickets at the Hartford, and has difficulty shifting 2000 tickets solo in Birmingham, he won't be playing to 750,000 people in Knebworth. Simple economics. A Jam arena tour would shift like hot f***ing cakes though.

they couldn't sell enough tix in hartford CONNECTICUT - a place that NO ONE plays... for a reason.

the jam were most certainly big enough for knebworth -

but that doesn't mean they should test that water out now - it would be a total mistake.

Never big enough for Knebworth? Of course they were. On the farewell tour they sold out Wembley Arena five nights in a row.

And as for Rick and Bruce not being able to stand Weller, that has got more to do with money and sour grapes than anything else.

And while I'm on the subject, I wish the fucking writers would stop referring to the Jam as a Mod band. In The City, This Is The Modern World and All Mod Cons are three classic PUNK albums. Anybody who says they aren't is talking out of his/her arse!

I don't recall seeing many punks with The Jam emblazoned on their jackets, more the likes of Crass or Discharge.
Three classic albums I agree but not punk, more New Wave!

The Jam were certainly not 'new wave'. 'New Wave' were groups like Pigbag. The Jam were more of a punk band trying to be mods, but way after the mod scene had ended

Weller was and is a Mod at heart, but they never really came across as a Mod band. More a hybrid of new wave/punk. I remember having quite an dislike to Mods backin the early eighties.

What is Mod anyway??

The Jam Reforming

I was a big Jam fan and saw them during a couple of times during their reign as the best band in the f*%$ing world. After the split Weller stated that he didn't want to be old and tired and singing songs like 'When You're young' when he was 40. Let The Jam rest in peace guys and let the memories be of a powerful and passionate band and not a sad embarrasment. I can understand if its just for money because Bruce and Rick never really earnt that muchout of it and belive me I know, Rick actually told me once and its pitiful compared to what acts get today for being so talentless. Not Knebworth though.

It isn't going to happen, check the NME and Wellers own website for the denials. But you can't help feeling that he rumours were circulated for a reason!!!!!
