Norwegian hardcore outfit JR Ewing are to split in the autumn.
The band will honour their remaining dates - including an appearance at the Roskilde Festival - before going their separate ways after the summer.
A statement is currently posted under the news section of their website, selected 'highlights' below.
"We are truly sad to announce that by the fall of 2006 JR Ewing will no longer be a band. After eight years we feel it's time to move on. This has been a very hard decision for us, as we all love each others company and feel our music is as relevant today as when we started out in 1998.
"JR Ewing has been to over 20 countries in our time as a band, and we feel we've seen and experienced more in these eight years than we expected to do in a lifetime. We've met an incredible amount of inspiring people who have encouraged us on our way, and made us feel welcome even when thousands of miles from home.
"It's hard to for us to explain what we've been trying to do with our music, but the one thing we know is that we have wanted to be challenging from day one. We have not done what people have expected us to, and we've been unafraid of change. Repetition Is Failure.
"What now? Well, it's not over quite yet. There's a batch of shows that have been booked for a while which mostly includes festivals throughout the summer. We hope to see you all there, so we can make these last shows really count. We will be digging up some songs we haven't played for quite some time, so we promise something for everyone."

I ahd this discussion with -claire-
can you say a band from Sweden is shit? Or is everyone really good? Just a debate you understand
Abba
are shit
NOOOO!
you can only say good things silly.
weren't Whale from Sweden?
I'm just being Darcus Howe today - and Im repeating myself.
:(
I'd like to apologise.
This morning my head is not where it should be, partially because of Mudhoney being awesome, partially because of about six pints.
I wrote that JR Ewing are Swedish.
They're quite OBVIOUSLY from Norway.
Sorry.
(Not that anyone really noticed.)
this was to be expected
expect them to be deified in the years to come as the most progressive, commited and musically accomplished band of their era.
i'll shed a little tear.
and the website
is best accessed from the link below otherwise the guestbook and stuff don't always work http://www.v8.no/thejrewing/v1/news.php
Sorry to be really ignorant but

Also whys there a big HUUUGE ad in the middle of the page.
there's always an advert in the news
and JR Ewing are GRRRREAT.
Buy something now.
I'd like to suggest 'The Perfect Drama'.
OLD BUT GREAT.

Fantastic band.
Will be missed.
:(

?
!
And U2 are still making "music".*
*Patented responce to good bands spliting.
Hmmm...
I was really dissapointed with them at ATP last year and the last album wasnt that good at all. It is a shame as i always thought that they had one absolutly stunning album in them which they hadnt done yet.
Although...
Calling in Dead is pretty fucking good.
Mmm...
'Maelstrom' was a bit iffy bar the odd song. When I saw them on the last UK tour they did all the material from that album improved seriously when played at 1000x the volume, though.
Just buy 'Ride Paranoia' and realise you missed out.
My grammar is awful.
I noticed that just now...
Perhaps I'm missing something
but I saw this band support the Mars Volta ages ago & they were the worst band I've ever seen.
