I'm having a retro moment and listening to the Jam. Start! is amazing perhaps I'm just enjoying this so much as my listening has been becoming increasinly electronic. The contrast is really nice. The Jam were such artists with guitars, such use of rhythm.
Is anyone else's music listening habits a bit polar or faddy?
I was listening to these...
quite a lot recentley. The Jam are ace.
'Start' is one of my least favourite of their's and it does sound too much like 'Taxman'.
'Down In The Tubestation At Midnight' is a classic.
Haven't listen to them in ages...
I know what i'll put on my stereo next...
Coincidentally,
my son's mate was wearng a Jam t-shirt last night. Gave me a chance to be all nostalgic and tell him I saw them in 1977, met them after the gig and still have the ticket stub with the 3 autographs.
Although
their influence on this new wave of terrible derivative indie bands irritates me something stupid, I just can't bring myself to slag them off. All Mod Cons is pure brilliance.
Timelessly good in my opinion
nobody will ever do that sound as well as the Jam
