Karmakops to Support Much Larger yet Inferior Band

Artists: Karmakops
Unsigned Manchester band Karmakops have been asked to support Stereophonics tonight at Hull Arena. Not bad, considering it's only going to be their 4th gig.

The band's demo was picked up on at a demo workshop run by London's Plum Promotions (Water Rats/Betsy Trotwood), at In The City in September. While they didn't play ITC itself, they played showcases for industry and media folks in their rehearsal room.

Their manager told DiS: "It appeals to my sense of humour that they're supporting the 'Phonics before they've even played the Water Rats."

Anyone fancy going along to review it for DiS? Email adie@drownedisnound.com chop chop and I'll see what I can do...!

Karmakops play the Water Rats in London on Nov 26th.

Meanwhile, Hull has been voted "UK's most crap town" by the 'Idler Book of Crap Towns'.

Ad Break

It's dubious whether the success of the Karmakops at In The City was because of the quality of their slightly repetitive and annoying 'Ad Break' song or the fact it was the only 'indie' record heard by the panellists. Hmm...

Re: Ad Break

how undermining. and how wrong. lest you have a short memory or not bother to read my article where i mention them...

karmacops

well i saw them at the recent dublin castle show and didn't think they were as good as any of the other 3 bands on the bill that night.
just shows how easy it is to talk someone up. something this site especially's guilty of (dawn parade where are you now?).

Re: karmacops

meanwhile, myself and others thought they were miles better than the other three bands...

Re: karmacops

and i dont think we've ever talked up the dawn parade. they always were shit (giving wrong directions or no wrong directions!)

Re: karmacops

I refer you then to the mammoth list of articles that currently adorn their page on this site. Somewhat dispropotionate given that they only ever released a couple of singles don't you think?
agreed with the shit bit mind...

Re: karmacops

in all fairness 85% of it is news
if they provide the ammo we will ejaculate it all over our front page
well on the news column anyway

Re: karmacops

How about a touch of selectivity? I get sundry mails from assorted indie hopefuls and no-hopers through my inbox every few days it seems (unsolicited or not) but I wouldn't consider many of em at all if I were DIS news bod. "Miss Black America member scratches arse", oh good, etc...

Re: karmacops

that was back in the day when certain people who liked a band, managed to write a lot of articles, about a band that perhaps no-one else at the site had even heard. things have changed now. we've tightened up a bit and try to keep things in control and in proportion,

Re: karmacops

do you?
I mean, we?
um, news?

Re: karmacops

"that was back in the day when certain people who liked a band, managed to write a lot of articles, about a band that perhaps no-one else at the site had even heard"
...and so we go full circle back to karmacops.

Re: karmacops

i don't wanna go on and on about this, but... karmacops played a dis show and several members of staff really liked them. only one person did the review, else we'd have five people doing reviews of the same gig... if it was only one persons opinion then things get quashed around here, occasionally.
tho just imagine if no-one listened to peter and raz about the darkness and funeral for a friend...

Re: karmacops

then I wouldn't have to listen to those chodes all day every day... F4AF are gay. Darkness' novelty is thinner than Harold Bishop's chances of being Weight Watcher's champion slimmer for 2003. albeit with more spandex, which is good.

Karmakops cummin after ya

Alright dudes, I'm in the Karmakops... Wish you'd all stop talkin pish... ROCK N MUTHAFUCKIN ROLL

Karmakops to Support Much Larger yet Inferior Band

fucking hell, everyone has to have their two pence? it's like a mothers meeting.
