A question you've probably answered a million times, but with the exception of ex-bands (My Bloody Valentine...) I think the only artist I'm really desperate to see is Cat Power.
Especially so after having tickets for cancelled Barbican show.
The Books would probably also be high on my list, closely followed by Deerhoof, Scout Niblett, Why? and Islands, maybe.
Who are yours? GO! And make me jealous with your stories of seeing the above bands.

i will sell one or both of my kidneys
to see proton proton.
and it really is about time i saw arab strap. tsk.
the books were RICULAWESOME
seriously. you NEED to see them. they were so sweet and lovely and i wanted to give them hugs all through their set.
and they had a dvd projector thing and that was ace too.
i REALLY want to see sonic youth so much. that's the only band i'm really, really DESPERATE to see.
biffy fucking clyro
indoors.
oh and deerhoof were brilliant too.
again with the needing-to-give-cute-musicians-hugs thing.
uhm...
Lightning Bolt.
Scotch Egg.
And to think some people saw them TOGETHER.
yeah, the books were totally incredible
(sorry)
MBV would definitely be the ultimate, or slowdive.
I'd also LOVE to see the mae shi.
ME
i did !
i think, scotch egg only played for about 10 minutes inbetween support acts though
I hate missing stuff.
But at least it's something to look forward to, right?
YES the mae shi
and all the bands on 5rc ever.
It's better than a lot of bands playing for an hour thouhg, i'll bet.
I'll swap you
one of my biffy sightings for one of the above bands?
I did.
And me ears fucking bled.
yeah totally.
they'll probably definitely tour again sometime soon i bet.
yeah
it'll be worth the wait.
deerhoof are ACE.
oh and
DJ/RUPTURE
Did you actually read the first post?
nah
She's well dull.
Are you talking to me?
no
No.
The one who wanted to watch a dead singer fronting an ex-band.
see the little grey line
to the left of a post?
follow that up, and whichever post it's under, THAT'S the post he's replying to.
jesusfuckingchristpeopledontknowhowtoworktheboardsgrumblegrrr
Ah.
That makes sense.
Not what he said...
But what you said...
THREAD PARTY!
:(
seriously
I don't get how people genuinely can't understand how these boards work.
it's so bloody obvious.
OH OH OH
XINLISUPREME. dear god, yes. and spank rock and asobi seksu.
and yeah, i could do with seeing sonic youth.
i'd say lightning bolt but..yeah..i'm gonna. this weekend. YAY.
Richard Cheese
n00bs are wack
basically.
To add to the thread...
The following are incredible live;
Les Savy Fav
Noxagt
The Ladies
A Day In Black And White
By The End Of Tonight (only seen footage)
but nobody even mentioned those bands
and that's not the point of the thread.
Tom Waits!
shellac
lightning bolt
make believe/joan of arc
any mike watt project
?
Will the intranertz police come RAGIN up my ass now?
I fucking hope not.
not really
do you actually bother reading threads or do you just randomly click on reply anywhere and type whatever comes into your head?
you're quite annoying.
Yes dear.
Thats exactly what i do.
I saw the title "Bands you really need to see live" and just bashed down some names of bands that people in general really need to see live.
I really don't know what came over me.
but thats exactly what youve done wrong
youve seen the title and assumed that its about advising people on bands they need to see, when its about bands that people have missed before and are desperate to see.
And then World War Three happened, aye?
Calm the chuff down.
Relax.
Glaze over my TERRIBLE TERRIBLE post.
Move on.
Have a fucking wank.
As much as i love Arab Strap...
They were a bit of a let down live.
You should calm down too though,
shouldn't you.
Haha.
Dude. Im perfectly calm.
This board;
CRACKS ME UP
CAPS LOCK
DOES NOT SUGGEST CALMNESS.
and where did you get the impression that i was angry?
your posts have shown that clearly confused, and i was just clearing something up for you.
Aye cheers for that.
Fucking lost without you.
anytime.
everyone should see Low live
And I've always wanted to see Pearl Jam.
If they played Cordruoy I would weep.
i would love to see
TODD
les savy fav
jesu
lightning bolt
cass mccombs
plz
Wizardzz!
BJORK!
please don't play a gig that costs £498585 next time
i would love to see...
sleater-kinney
le tigre
sonic youth (bring on ATP in december! yay!)
yeah yeah yeah's again because the last time i saw them was at a festival my friend lost her shoes in the madness and we nearly got crushed to death trying to leave the tent.
this past week's been brilliant for gigs though. mates of state, new pornographers, the shins, tilly and the wall...ace!
I need/want to see
Wilco
Brand New
Springsteen
Bright Eyes
^^oh yeah
true
sigur ros
sigurs ros were just amazing a great live show
...
want to see the Melvins.
its amazing i havent seen them yet.
i still haven't seen
Deerhoof
Gang Gang Dance
or Spank Rock despite opportunities
i now HAVE seen Lightning Bolt and Afrirampo, so my list has become lots shorter.
everyone else i want to see badly never comes here anyway.
AND I HAVE MY BOREDOMS TICKET.
MEW and iLiKETRAiNS
are awsome live bands, also BRENDA.
Yeah i'd like to see Brenda again
not the point of the thread though.
YESSS!!!!
please stop saying bands that i really want to see.
hmm, mine are:
Weezer
Smashing Pumpkins
Sonic Youth
Deerhoof
Les Savy Fav
At The Drive-In
Lightning Bolt (seeing them on saturday with DJ Scotch Egg, YAS)
Converge
Fugazi
thats a good list
but...
biffy clyro
queens of the stone age
at the drive-in
maramduke duke (only cause I will be seeing them, yay!)
pumpkins
ian mckaye
mars volta
nine inch nails
tool
red hot chili peppers (so many DiSers will be pissed at this one, but you must see them, just one of those things)
i find it hard to believe
that people have not seen biffy live.
up until last year, they used to tour literally none stop. they played leeds like 7 times in a year or something ridiculous.
That's exactly what I was going to say.
most bands
that i really really want to see i've already seen. so.. er..
the smashing pumpkins
sonic youth
there's a whole load i want to see again though..
Only someone in London could ask this question
Anyone elsewhere has an endless list of bands they would like to see and, so, the question doesn't need to be asked.
arcade fire, arcade fire, arcade fire
yeah
i mean, in london, gigs cost 30 pennies each and to be honest, you're more likely to see any band you want walking down our many, many streets. all of which are paved with gold.
RADIOHEAD
I LOVES THEM AND SAW THEM TWICE LAST WEEK AND THEY WERE REALLY REALY GOOD, INNIT.
In Stoke we aren't starved of top bands....
but I still think that more big bands could play here. We've had bands like DPT and HIFH playing in the last few weeek, and we've got The Lightning Seeds and The Rakes coming up, but I think that we could do with a few more.
Speaking of bands that you NEED to see live...Centrifuge.
that reminds me,
i really need to see the lightning seeds and DPT live.
oh!
how could i forget Wilco..
ooh yes weezer
yes. them.
Some awesome live bands:
65daysofstatic
Mogwai
Flaming Lips
(obvious but needed to be said)
Campaign For Real Time
Secondsmile
Infadels
and for the record, some shit live bands:
Clinic
The Magnificents
no, i don't want to HAVE seen them
i want to see them!
and i haven't seen any of yours anyway
cos i'm not cool enough.
i saw them once at a festival
and once supporting inme! when i didn't use to like them.
Clinic were magnificent
when I saw them !
Bands I'd really liked to see :
If Thousands
Televise
Jessica Bailiff
Lisa Germano
the Angels of Light
Mahogany
Savoy Grand
Arco
...
Mae Shi
The Books
Islands
Vashti Bunyan
Bjork?
THE KNIFE
Ninja High School (LOL)
to the intitial poster!
cat power was awesome when I saw her at the union chapel, however friends have also seen her SUCK badly, Scout niblett was also great when she played the arts cafe ages ago (i think that was with calvin johnson who is also a MUST SEE), I've only seen her play on her own though not with a drummer. Deerhoof I saw in New york in 2004 and they ruled hard, I also had tick's for them at the garage last year but ended up going to the Peel day thing instead and was glad as apparently they weren't that hot there. I missed going to see why? despite a friend booking their tour and another friend lending them a van, I didn't really hear the new record until after their tour had finished DOH! I think i've seen most of the other bands people are after seeing on this thread (LSF, Mae Shi, noxagt, sonic youth, SK, shellac bjork etc) I am looking forward to seeing Racebannon next month though, and I'd like to see Wilco, there aren't that many others that I am awaiting with baited breath though,
nah
forget vashti bunyan and stick dima bilan in there instead.
.
flaming lips!
I WANT TO SEE THE BOREDOMS
It's on my birthday, but so far no one will go with me and I have nowhere to stay. Someone should come with me. It's my birthday! Jesus!
p-p-p-p-pumpkins
bearsuit!
radiohead (again)
lightning bolt!
bright eyes
polysics
animal collective
YAY!!!
omgz yes
just from the dvd they look amazing. they are alright sonically too.
.
Ok, recently...
Knives
65 days
Lightning bolt
ann arbor
cousin scampi
chicken hawk
meet me in st. louis
KONG
Frank Turner is also pretty fun.
SUFJAN STEVENS!!!!
OMG ninja high school!
i want to move to canada for a month and just see bands 24/7.
best bands ive seen live (all indoors)
1. placebo
2. razorlight
3. arcade fire
4. maximo park
5. foo fighters
6. cooper temple clause
7. delays
8. bloc party
9. stellastarr*
10.arctic monkeys
and im not interested in all the "ive seen so and so at a festival from 5 miles away and they were shit" bollocks, ive seen hundreds of bands including many of them talked about in the thread, but i dont think any of them came anywhere near to these.
i went to see
springsteen (with my mum and dad, that's how cool they are) and he was AMAZING. the best live performance i've ever seen.
ive seen five of the above listed bands,
before you all reprimand me.
Vashti Bunyan
is absolutely lovely live...
thank you :)
this means that i won't expect the earth from them, and when i do see them, i may be surprised and amazed :D
oh!
fuck yes.
truth
on shellac.
i can't believe i didn't go last time they were here. i knew about it... i SHOULD have gone. stupid. STUPID.
converge
are rrrrilly good live. fugazi are too. and so were atdi. [state the fucking obvious.]
however smashing pumpkins were VERY boring on the one occasion i saw them.
clinic
so bad live. sterile in the worst way, dull, repetitive, characterless.
seconded
on the knife and ninja high school.
well.
i reckon NHS live would either be stunningly good fun, or like the go team - fucking horrible and cringe-making. let's hope for the former.
Yeh.
Converge have been incredible the couple of times I've seen them.
i would like to see
do make say think, and a bunch of 'hiatus?' bands.
!!!
Polysics
Dizzee Rascal
Arcade Fire
Sonic Youth
And -

And -
http://www.drownedinsound.com/event/view/16739
I saw Cat Power at the Barbican
She was good, but I was really nervous all the way through because a couple of times she came close to losing it.
I would sell my face to see:
Radiohead
Belle & Sebastian
Sonic Youth
The Cure
Nick Cave
Until last week I would have had The Shins on that list, but then I saw them twice in five days :D
this canadian person
told me at one NHS gig they asked everyone to bring a radio with them, and to make it play just white noise, and the entire concert was spent battling against the white noise coming from dozens of radios.
UM.
i would like to see dizzee rascal and sonic youth actually.
I agree about !!!
and the arcade fire. Easily two of the best live acts I've ever seen along with Saul Williams, LCD Soundsystem and TV On The Radio. Sonic Youth would be amazing and am yet to see My Morning Jacket, Interpol, The National, Girls against Boys, Broken Social Scene and Sufjan which hopefully I'll be able to remedy at some point in the near future.
CENTRIFUGE
CENTRIFUGE
CENTRIFUGE

CENTRIFUGE
Fifth Action Shelter
one name...
radiohead/thom yorke on his own with a sexed up acoustic
i need say no more.
i suppose
the one name kinda became two....unless radiohead were actually thom yorke and the others were all imaginary....god i wonder.....
Liars
Islands
Animal Collective (bring on 13th july)
Lightning bolt
Hella
Les Savy Fav
Battles (bring on 13th july)
65daysofstatic
Oxes
Well, seeing as it's 'live'...
...I've got to say Muse. The amount of people I know that weren't that bothered but caught them at the end of Glastonbury and thought they were the band of the festival...
Yeh.
Animal Collective and Battles would have been in my list had it not been for July - I can't wait! :D
aaaaah
dizzee's AMAZING.
Muse were quite exciting when I saw them ages ago
That guy is one of the most technically amazing guitarists I've ever seen.
Shame the records are so average.
Stevie Wonder
Prince
Bearsuit
Go! Team
Animal Collective
Arcade Fire
O wait
Those are all bands that I have already seen live.
I thought it was recommending, not saying who you wanted to see in which case
it can only ever be
Tom Waits
and
Bjork, again.
yeah! oxes and hella. i've missed them many a time.
I've seen Muse
just after they released their first album. Boring wank !
Thankfully I didn't pay for the gigs...
when
did you see them live ?
Maybe they've changed a lot...
You didn't read the first post either?
Shocking.
wut ?
There was a first post !/!/§.§/§.§/§§§!!!!
if I see Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
I can die happy.
I'd love to see...
Some Girls (they played back in April, but I had a driving test in the morning after the gig, so I decided not to go. Regret!)
DFA 1979
LCD Soundsystem
Neon Blonde
The Bronx
.
I'd loved to have seen American Football in their time.
Need to see Seafood too, STAT.
Yeah
You all also need to see Hikikomori Broadcast pretty soon. Trust.
i'd like to see
Minus the Bear again. so bloody dancerific
Muse
I've got plenty of friends who were converted after seeing them at Glastonbury. Lifechanging.
Also, a mention must go to the Secret Machines who I saw about a month ago. Absolutely incredible.
worth watching..
at Reading then? Muse and Secret Machines i mean..
That track you put up on the BB a while ago is fecking magical.
Uh huh.
(That was directed to Dan
About Hikikomori Broadcast)
Seafood
Saw Seafood supporting (Can't remember who) years ago...they were proper shit!
Ermmm....
Barbara Streisand?
She....
is nice.
i vood really like to see
Built to Spill. Oh, and Iggy and Sonic Youth please.
Since By Man, Since By Man, Since By Man, Since By Man, Since By Man
...fuck, I really want to see them!
I can't be bothered to read all this
and I don't have to, because I know that above all, you need to see
THE GOOSE
live. They're AMAZING. And if you're not at the Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, London, on the 29th of July, you may as well go and stick your face in a drawer and never let it out for shame. This could be your only chance to witness the majesty of
THE GOOSE.
http://www.myspace.com/th3g0053
fool(OL)
Oh
Cardiacs and The Mars Volta too.
Also, I wouldn't
mind seeing Jello Biafra and the Melvins. I really enjoyed the album, Seig Howdy!
yeah
i think mars volta are up there for me too
YES...
be down at the front with me for both.
the mars volta
are simply stunning live.
i was honestly blown away and speechless
they played for about 2 hours and stopped only once
they basically dotted bits of tracks in and about and improvised in between and joined them all up.
the electronic voice in that bit in cassandra gemini sent SUCH huge shivers down my spine live.
