Regular no-shows at, um, shows Babyshambles have parted company with Rough Trade, the label that released their much-delayed and ultimately shite Down In Albion long-player last year.
The label has opted not to renew the band's contract, but has denied that the antics of singer Pete Doherty have had any effect on their decsion.
A source spoke to The Independent:
"Rough Trade were in the process of renegotiating a deal, but the talks broke down because it just proved to be so difficult to deal with Pete and the people he surrounds himself with."
I don't care one whit...
... Rough Trade have Arcade Fire, Decemberists, Antony & The Johnsons, Sufjan Stevens, Hidden Cameras.
They know quality when they hear it - now we know they know drivel when they hear that too.
though now with a lot of major backing
so i do't look at them as an 'indie' even though they still use their old offices in Notting Hill still
they're owned
by sanctuary, i think? so in the traditional sense of it all they're still an "indie" I suppose.

it's all rubbish apparently. jeanette lee (rough trade person) was on bbc6 the other day saying that they were still negotiating with him for another album. not that it matters anyway - the chances of that fuckwit making another good album are minimal...
some would argue that he's never made a good album
i like them.
i saw them at leeds festival last year and i thought they were really good.
i also think that down in albion is nowhere near as bad as people make out. it's actually quite an interesting and diverse album.
and no i am not joking.
i think that, even if rough trade don't give them another deal, someone else will. so ultimately, who cares what labe they are signed to?
(cue: usual bandwagon of people saying how crap he is).
