Suede rounded off their final tour with a mammoth 27 set at the London Astoria last night (13th December). Despite the news that the band are to split, it was a fantastically jubilant affair, and included many rarely played tracks, like 'Heroine' and 'The 2 Of Us'. The previous night's gig at Brixton also included a new song, 'Music Like Sex'.

With many fans having travelled from as far away as Japan and Korea, the news that the band may make another record would have eased their journey home somewhat. Singer, Brett Anderson commented, "I just want you to know, there will be another Suede record. Just not yet."

Suede were notorious as the cult kickstarters of the Britpop phenomenon, notching up a whole host of hits across their 12 year career. The consistency of their music was epitomised by the NME describing disc one of their B-sides collection, Sci-Fi Lullabies, as 'better than OK Computer'.

See you in the next life.

DiScuss: Will you miss Suede? Were they ever likely to better Dog Man Star?

Suede: There'll be another album

Only two words need describe last night: Fucking Awesome.

Re: Suede: There'll be another album

Suede are absolute rubbish. Droney, whiney and that's just the lyrics. Wait til you listen to the lead singer. OMG! Bring me my sickbag and give me another hit!

Suede: There'll be another album

I think they've handled everything well lately. The last album wasn't that good and a split seemed like the right thing... I went to their Bristol date on the 'farewell' tour and it was a reminder of how good they can be. So if a long break means that they come back with something better, I'm all for it. I'd love another Suede album, I just want it to be a good one.

Suede: There'll be another album

Hmm. Maybe if Brett had told the rest of the band there will be another album the rest of the band might be on it! Put it this way, you definitely won't see the same line up again, at least one member thinks reformations are a waste of time and always rubbish, and it isn't Brett. I doubt the next "Suede" album will have nayone but Brett on it. But, you know, who knows?

There will be, of course, one last Suede album, of 12 unreleased songs, but only people currently in the fanclub will get it.

The greatest hits are sublime, great for washing up to. Can't be arsed with the albums though. They are a singles band, I think. If they came back with a hit single, so much the better. But give them time. Maybe they need a rest, they are getting on a bit after all. ;-)

Suede: There'll be another album

they never wrote a better song than 'stay together'. it was all downhill from the day dog man star was released.
she's in fashion? you must be fucking joking.
glad i saw them when it was their time rather than when they're attempting to soak up enough adoration to sustain them into anonymity and middle-age.

Suede: There'll be another album

Saturday's gig was amazing, and was also a wonderful pre xmas surprise for my gf !!

I agree with the comments about 'stay together' , but I also loved 'She's in Fashion' too!!

Suede: There'll be another album

Brett used to go to my school.

Suede: There'll be another album

I love She's In Fashion- don't like Film Star much though. I think the greatest Hits has a good mix. Stay Together is beautiful.

Suede: There'll be another album

Is the version of Stay Together the proper 8 mins version or the single version. Defo their best tune.

Re: Suede: There'll be another album

The shitty cut to fuck solo-less version.

Suede: There'll be another album

Matbe that's the final snub to Bernard......?

Suede: There'll be another album

Stay Together (full version clearly), Dog Man Star & 1st Sci-Fi lullabies CD absolute brilliance. Shame about the decline, but hell, in comparison with the manics' spectacular sellout fuck-up, well, it could've been worse.
Also saw Bristol, joy, great performance.
& what the hell did Bernard think he was doing after DMS?

Suede: There'll be another album

Surely Bernie did some rather decent stuff after Suede compared to the post-Bernard Suede who went downhill...

Suede: There'll be another album

Suede are the best band in the world.
they'll come back.

Suede: There'll be another album

i absolutely agree that dms is their best album and that disc 1 of sci fi is fantastic, but although i think Bernard is a genius take nowt away from Richard Oakes. he has written some stunning stuff, "Europe is our playground" is absolutely breathtaking!! also, how in gods name can Jez say that Bernie has has been shite since dms? his solo stuff and the mcalmont and butler stuff is superb and shows his versitality by managing to instantly sound not like suede!! he has developed into a bigger and better songwriter/producer with every song!! it's also testiment to him that Brett has gone back to ask him to help his solo career as everything Brett's written recently is absolutely dire...."simon" springs instantly to mind!!!
