I prefer Nicky Campbell. He's a cunt and he gets results. Don't dare fuck with him, don't try and argue or debate with him. He's always right. The natural heir to Paxman's throne. A lovely, surly Bastard. Wheel of Fortune wasn't a great CV attribute though...
Nobody in their right minds would drink Carling if it wasn't the only thing available at venues! How true, I just wish they'd stop sponsoring everything in sight and then maybe the venues could stock some good beer (especially Tiger Beer/San Miguel/Amstel).
I can't go into a pub or venue without seeing Carling and/or Carlsberg on tap... that's going to have to change... maybe I'll set up my own venue and ban crap beers.
Hoegaarden could be the right beer in a very hot summer day.
But I'm not surprised you don't like it. I'm the only person I know who sometimes drinks it. That's a strange taste.
Banks' beer brewed in Barbados. A better warm weather-cold beer combination I have not found. Corona hits the spot though, Kronenbourg, Sol, Nastro Azzuri, Tooheys is grand, VB... and many other beers Ihave been deprived of out here in Canada.
Where do I start? I must apologise for Australian mass-produced beer (ie VB, Fosters, XXXX etc) which contains more sugar than Coke does. However, there are some great Aussie beers, mostly made in micro-breweries. Check out Grumpy's, Holgate's, Mountain Goat to name just a few. Now can one of you Americans please have the dignity to apologise for the likes of Bud?
As far as easily available on-tap beers go (at least Down Under) I'd have to cast my vote for Stella. It's always fun to see how long you can draw out the "Stellaaaaaaa" call as the night goes on. Think I might head down to my local for a couple or ten right now.
Ooops, please don't take the "one of you Americans" bit the wrong way...I wasn't implying that you lot are Americans (obviously not coz you seem to have good taste in beer)...Brits do know how to make beer and music and comedy (Americans know how to make war hahaha).
Gee - that is tough. I come from a country where we pride ourselves on the fact that we drink very little other than Beer.
(Hey - we're in the middle of a drought - water is very precious - so we gotta drink Beer *wink*)
I think that Carlton Crown Lager is quite possibly the best beer I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. Devine.
But, I don't mind the odd Corona with a wedge of lime (to keep the flies away of course!) whilst watching the odd round of motorsport on a casual Sunday afternoon...
Nastro azzuri, tsing tao, and budvar. Mmmmm. Good call about shit beers in venues. Wanky carling most nights although last night fair play to manchester academy cans of red stripe yeah!
Nastro Azzuro is nice, Amstel I've only had once, in New Zealand of all places, nowhere in England seems to sell it. Always see it advertised on the Champions League shit though, which makes me want to drink it.
Yes, I am that easily swayed by advertising/product placement.
Favourite "Always Seems to Be On Offer In My Local Offie" Beer: Fosters
Favourite "Gives You A Headache but Gets You Blatted" Beer: Kronenbourg 1664
Favourite Beer for Flavour: Stella Artois
Favourite Beer for Price: Castlemaine XXXX
Well, I'm usually like I'll do many rounds with one which is cheaper but not so bad.
If I wanna taste, the biere du demon is my beer of choice!!! and it flows like hell!!
Don't drink anymore, but, late 80s,early 90s,really liked Carlsberg Special Brew.Cold,it was actually drinkable.EKU28 is another good call, along with stuff like Pirat. One of the best coctails ever is EKU28 beer,QC sherry and Drambuie.A couple of pints of that, and the world's your oyster.
I think I have. Can't remember though. ISTR it was just like normal Carling but colder (funny that). I *do* remember Carling Premier being rather nice though, but that seems to have long since gone the way of Tab Clear.
bububububububudvar
i'm sick fed up of my friends going "how can you drink budweiser?"
IT'S NOT FUCKING BUDWEISER YOU DOSS CUNTS
it is BUDVAR
just cos it says budweiser on the label doesn't mean it's actually BUDWEISER
pretty much any beer is nice. i like a stella (but it makes me go a bit mental) or kronenbourg or san miguel. as i say anyone except becks and grolsch they just taste like sea water!!!
Star tastes rank after a couple tho' - maybe my tongue rebels or something, but after a few it tastes like cat wee.
Budvar, however, is the daddy of widely-available bottled lagers. I much prefer an ale, but, if a decent one's not available, it's Budvar all the way. They have it on tap in the Enterprise in Camden and the Old Dairy in Finsbury Park, beer fans.
Strictly Guinness for me these days, but when I was cheapo student, the corner shop used to sell this stuff called Colt 45 for next to nothing. It's still the nicest lager ever :)
If you don't like it, I don't give shit because it IS the best beer in the world. This beer actually gets better with age. Like wine. Fuck me I'm thirsty.!
Yay for bottle conditioned Coopers! Gets better with age like ME! But I refuse to fuck you just coz you're thirsty - you'd be better off having a drink. Propgating Coopers yeast from the bottle and adding it to their homebrew wort makes it pretty damned close to the real thing. Of course they don't use the same yeast in the homebrew kits coz (a) they don't want you making beer as good as their bottled stuff and (b) I don't think it is able to be dried for packaging with the same result.
...and on the Budweiser debate the Fucking American Crap Brewing Co Pty Ltd trademarked the name regardless of the fact that any beer from the Budvar region should be able to be called a Budweiser. It's like trademarking the term Liverpudlian and stopping those from Liverpool ever using it again (or probably more like the Champaign example but I like to get dramatic when it comes to slagging off crap beer).
Now let's all relax and have a nice Old Peculiar. YUM!
Tonight, Carlsberg Export, but that's just because it was on offer in Sainsbury's. I guess what I'm saying is, I'm a slag when it comes to beer, I just want what's cheap and tastes half decent.
I'm now teetotal, but I have tasted many, many, many fine beers. I must say I was always partial to real ales. If it must be lager, then always a premium strength beast. I must also agree with the general concensus in this thread about Hoegaarden: a fine white beer. Got drunk on it while watching Do Make Say Think and Berg Sans Nipple at Brighton's Hanbury Ballroom last year. 'Tis truly a marvellous mellow pishedness.
Czech pilsners, Belgian beers, Tsing Tao, Tiger, etc all tasty too. Guinness also cannot be faulted, although I've never managed to get drunk on it, strangely.

Re: What's your favourite BEER?
Aussie make beer in the way Americans make wars.
Ditto goes for appaling mis-use of the English language, barbeques on the beach at Christmas time, and red dirt. We are the kings of all these things.
All hail us.
Re: What's your favourite BEER?
As is Fosters, but that's not really Australian, is it?
Re: What's your favourite BEER?
Mike, my friend, you are on the ball. You sure you're not just some smart-ass Aussie? :o)
Foster's: you can only buy it at special liquor stores. Noone carries it, cuz noone buys it.
But if YOU all buy it, then you are sponsoring the Australian Olympic Team. So drink up, kids!!
