Another one bites the dust...

You may remember Alabama's Remy Zero from such things as Smallville and being friends with Travis, you may even own their three beautiful indie albums: 'Remy Zero', 'Villa Elaine' and 'The Golden Hum'. But their official website states that the band have now split up.

Their site carries the following statement

"The five of us thank all of you who have listened & had faith in us. These years as Remy Zero have given birth to music and friendships that will hopefully live on past this moment.
We will take the inspiration, lessons, and spirits we have encountered as each of us moves forward into new territories. Remy Zero has been put to rest.
Thank you again peace,
Cedric, Cinjun, Jeffrey, Gregory, Shelby"

However the site does carry details regarding their individual projects where it seems solo albums and record labels are on the cards, Cinjun excavationrecords.com, Jeffrey karmichit.com/isidore.htm, Gregory horsethiefrecords.com, Shelby apoxyfeather.com, but it's still not known what bassist Cedric will be upto next. Also, from what we can gather, Cinjun and Shelby will release an album together early in 2004.

We'll have more details about what the band are upto as things happen...

DiScuss: What are your favourite memories of the band? Do you believe they were really under-rated? What's your favourite RZ song?

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

They supported Weezer as well, which was an unusual pairing. Pretty good band, though.

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

Remy Zero are brilliant. Villa Ellaine is an ace album.
annoyed they split, cos the only experience i have of them live was supporting Weezer in Manchester; they were ill so played 2 songs and that was it!

hope the new projects are as good.

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

pretty good band...shame to hear they've been "put to rest", hope the guys solo projects have something good to offer.

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

awesome band, capable of some quite stunning beauty in their music. never quite cracked it on record IMHO, always a bit too polished, but live they were truly staggering. Their gig at the Borderline in London was possibly the greatest i have ever seen.

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

Sorry to see Remy Zero go -- they had great promise. At least, I thought Villa Elaine was a great album. "Golden Hum" was a bit of an arena-stomp, and seeing the dead, blank eyes and posturing of the lead singer when they played live in London a couple of years ago didn't help. Still, they had promise.

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

Amazing Band, really. Cinjun's vocals are just so mesmorizing. The capture you, and inspire you.
Their 3 albums are all great, but especially their 2nd, Villa Elaine. The production, songwriting, and feel to that album stays as true now as the first listen. "Life In Rain" will always be one of the saddest most beautiful songs. I'm definatly sad they've split up. Having met them a few times, and spoken with them several, it just makes it harder. I wish them the best in the future.
xoxo.

Remy Zero: "Put to Rest"

These are one of my favourite bands and I never got to see them live but they were beautful. Wish them all the best for their upcoming projects.
