"The"'s and big ass names

maybe a little silly of me but is it just me or does every new up-and-coming band these days either have a 'the' at the start of their names (the list would go on forever) OR (AND) have big ass fucking names dogs die in hot cars, funeral for a friend, story of the year, yourcodenameis:milo, The vincent razorbacks, taking back sunday, BRMC, yong heart attack, QOTSA, The get up kids, now listen to this carfully im not taking a stab at these bands only everyone's unorigionality witht their names, whatever happend to the one/two words named bands, nirvana, metallica, amen, slipknot, korn, have some origionality bands, not a completly one sided argument as i must say i have passions for bands such as red hot chili peppers and rage against the machine but nonetheless that was then its these new bands shoving a "the" in front of names or having fucking stories as names.

  • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

Surely it's more original to have a name with more than 1 word... (There are less options with 1 word)
    • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

definitely more orginial to have a load of words. come on now, think about this- you see a poster for a gig and it says- live tonight at the seeping cock pub-

      tennis
      deary
      hot
      fear

your not going to go are you? but if youve got something like...

      discharge for breakfast
      pancake terrorism in whitby
      job lot of meat racks
      hell fucker

      your gonna go arnt you?

      well i would.
      • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

I'd go see any band called pancake terrorism in whitby
        • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

to be honest i would not pay money to go watch a band who i havent heard of even with cool names it dosent make their music good
      • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

        discharge for breakfast = emo
pancake terrorism in whitby = anti-folk
job lot of meat racks = extremo
        hell fucker = thrash metal

        just guessing.
  • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

The 90s was a time of one word names.
You can basically have a short name or a long name. they've all been done a million times.
    • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

I did notice that a lot of stupid indie bands coming out have all got 'the's in front of their names, save for Jet.
The vines, the white stripes, the hives... those bands.
...I don't really care about it though. I guess it's just a trend.
      • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

Aye. It's the same as all those crap one-word britpop bands in the 90s.
Long names are a bit annoying though.
        • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

The has been around forever and always will The Clash, The Beatles, The kinks, The Jimi Hendrix experince, the who, the rolling stone, the slits, when peoples favorit bands have the in there name they want the in theres, not very original but hey whatever, alot of good bands have the in there names
          • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

if u personally ask me i dnt see what fuckin difference the name of the band is aslong as u like da music it duntrealli matter
            • Re: "The"'s and big ass names

a bands name should state what there about kind of, but ur right the music comes first
