Read all about it... Festival Line-Up Rumours! Festival Line-Up Rumours! Festival Line-Up Rumours!

With the snow falling across the UK and the spring only a lily pad leap away, it's time for the festival rumour mill to get churning...

Pilton Farmer come Glastonbury Festival Organiser Micheal Eavis has suggested to the BBC that the God-father (or should that now be Grandfather) of Soul, James Brown will be wheeled out to entertain this summer, more than likely with backing singers in Polyphonic proportions. Fellow funky oldie Prince is also in the running to be most rumoured to maybe be playing for the second year running. We also hear that Paul McCartney is once again rumoured to be playing - tho some guy on acid we spoke to last year swore he played before REM?! Those mono-browed Manc’s Oasis, who return with a new record in September, are also rumoured for a headline slot.

Other rumbles include The Cure, Basement Jaxx and Daniel Bedingfield, who have all recently, unofficially, confirmed themselves as playing. Other sensible rumours include Blondie, Pretenders, White Stripes, Gary Jules/Tears for Fears, Belle & Sebastian, Doves, Gomez, The Strokes, Ash, Damien Rice, David Kitt, Starsailor, Scissor Sisters, Junior Senior, Franz Ferdinand, British Sea Power and Idlewild (who played last year but have a new album late Spring). The smart money has to be on the likes of Joss Stone, Katie Melua, Jamie Cullum, Amy Whitehouse and anyone else who relies on the exposure and association to heighten their marketing campaigns. Oh, and if you're listenin' Eavis, DiS would like to see Erykah Badu, Pj Harvey, Ryan Adams, B-52's, Bright Eyes, The Stills, A Silver Mount Zion, The Shins, Azure Ray, Rilo Kiley, Cat Power, Squarepusher, Sonic Youth, Sigur Ros (again please!) and Fountains of Wayne preferably on the Saturday evening, all in a row, please.

Tickets for Glasto, which are likely to again sell out in hours, go on sale at 8.00pm on Thursday April 1st 2004 (April Fools Day??) and will cost you a whopping £112 + booking fee, and then a bit more for post and packaging. The event takes place from 25th to 27th June 2004.

We've also heard reports that the Pixies are very likely to play V Festival, but we think this might just be some sources trying to annoy us, as we suspect someone like Dido will headline the other day of the event.

As for Reading, we're expecting (well, predicting) to hear Queens of the Stoneage, The Darkness, Courtney Love, A Perfect Circle, Slipknot and a few other likely suspects to be confirmed over the coming months.

DiScuss: James Brown, it just isn't the same really is it? What festival rumours have you heard? Who do you want to see this summer? What's your favourite thing about festivals? Anyone know how you're meant to get home from Glasto on the Sunday night without a car (last year the last train left as Sigur Ros went on stage!!)?

I need something explained about the Glastonbury ticketing. If the tickets are personalised and they're checked on the gates, what happens if you can't go? A lot can happen in three months. And if you CAN give your ticket to someone else if that happens, won't that defeat the object? And also, what about the local ticket agencies? The one in Bristol sells 2500 a year normally - it's a big part of their income. Oh well, I suppose the organisers had to try something. Pity that 'something' had to be to give all the tickets to the evil WayAhead.

Re: Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

I get the impression it's all "tough" if you find you can't go. You can't give the ticket to someone else and you can't get a refund.. it all sucks.

Re: Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

who reckons the 'something' was just a feeble excuse for getting a bucketload of cash money for allowing WayAhead to be sole ticket seller?
1st Mean Fiddler buys half of the festival...

Pixies doing V? If this turns out to be true I will emigrate. I might even sign up to Dubya's Mars mission. Roughly 99.43% of the average V audience won't even know who they are! *grumblegrumblefuckingrumbebetternotbetruegrumble*

i heard oasis were pretty much a cert for doing the festival circuit.
wudv'e thoguht pixies would do reading rather than V.
Keane will probably do glastonbury as will razorlight and oceansize also longview possibly.
can't go to glastonbury as i have an a2 exam on 28th june :[.
so added to the glastonbury rumour list: razorlight, keane and oceansize. dj yoda in the dance tent.

Re: Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Rob, what exam would that be? I'm doing my A2s at the moment, but was hoping (praying) to go to Glasto. Please say it aint in English Lang, Media or Film...

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

I'm going Pixies/Muse/White Stripes for leeds. Not my personal choices but thats what I think will happen. Well I want muse, but as well i suspect ash will play too perhaps second on the bill on the main stage. Franz Ferdinand will play as well, perhaps marilyn manson and well i'll not go on forever eh?!

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

i'm really pissed off that i have an economics exam on mon 28th. i hope the reading lineup this year will be better than last.

Nowhere near the garden are playing Glastonbury in the new bands tent. I think they earned it through some battle of the bands style thing (not surprising though , they are great!)

Oh and Oasis said they didn't want to headline G so would play before McCartney's headline slot.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Reading had better not be as shit as it was last year. It was like NME and Kerrang had taken over the Main Stage.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Im hoping my exam timetable works out OK too. Had a lot of mates who did A2s last year and they still all managed to go. English exams tend to be mid June I think, thats unlucky about the economics one, that must be one of the last ones, but dont worry Studious McClever, you should be fine!

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Here here on emigratin if the Pixies play V...I will cry. V is the shitest festival of all...Pixies are much more suited to the likes of Glastonbury.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

i have economics module:'who gives a crap' which questions you on stuff that couldnt possibely work in the real world or be of any use (as of most subjects :p)

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Agreed about Reading being quite frankly shite last year. I enjoyed the few bands I did see but I only saw Primal Scream and Beck on the main stage out of all the acts on that stage over the weekend. It was a shame because Glastonbury was magic so to come out of Reading, which was great the year before, feeling disappointed wasn't nice.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

I'm pretty sure i heard madonna(!) was supposed to headline T in the park this year, but since darkness and bowie have been confirmed im thinking (hoping...) this is no longer true.

Apart from random older acts (pixies et al) its pretty easy to predict festival lineups, just see whos releasing material six months either side of it!

V 2004 prediction; Joss Stone to do a 9 hour headline set, Stereophonics support, Zero 7 djing all weekend in the hardcore electro-tent.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Shit, t in the park is gonna be really bad this year isnt it? i like bowie, but i have this feeling glastonbury is gonna be better this year...

(please not the fucking darkness, i was lucky enough to miss them last year, i dont want to have to again...)

for the first time ever i dont have exams to worry about. im fucking old. how depressing...

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Pixies: here goes everything.

ATP2 has the best festival line up: sonic youth, arab strap, the shins, steven malkmus, LCD soundsystem, lightning bolt, jackie o-motherfucker. Amoung many others.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

Bring on ATP2. Think I'll cry when I see The Shins again.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCa

Pixies ain't gonna be playing.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

muse are headline t, and david bowie, i don't think the darkness are headling, its only two days so they can't be.

Glastonbury/V04 Rumour Round-Up: James Brown, McCartney , Pixies, Prince...

glasto looks awful compared to last year
t in the park looks great so far
