Forever-changing solo artist Beck - he's no loser, really, so quit wit' the killin' already - has finished his new, as-yet-untitled album.
Beck's last long-player, Guero, was only released around 18 months ago, making this quite the quick turnaround. The album will be released via Interscope, and was produced by regular Radiohead associate Nigel Godrich, the man behind the desk for Beck's Mutations and Sea Change.
Billboard reports that Beck will preview new material on a ten-date US tour this month, which includes a set at the Bonnaroo Festival, Tennessee. He will also open for Radiohead later in the summer, in Edinburgh and Dublin.
Guero has sold just short of a million copies Stateside since its release.
Beck
is going out with Jay Leno.
interesting
what do folk reckon it'll be this time?
Godrich suggests more
folky stuff..
as far as I'm aware
Beck already has about 5 albums recorded ready for release and he's just kicking back being a Scientologist.
I'm hoping this one isn't going to be as shockingly non-brilliant as Guero. It's the only Beck album to date I haven't ordered people to buy.
Perhaps
this one will be vaguely interesting to listen to. I don't get Beck.
wo, hold up there
beck is brilliant. truly original and great fun to listen to. odelay is such a summery party album and sea chanage is a complete contrast with intimate heartbreaking lovesongs. i love beck.
It's weird
I really should like him, considering my taste in music. I've never liked anything I've heard though really.
Except Everyone's Gotta Learn Sometime, but that was a cover.
I love Beck
but loathed Guero.
it was one of the most dissapointing albums I can ever remember.
yup
agreed. sea change was amazing and is very very underrated.
this
probably makes me non-cool, but i only like odelay and guero...
don't worry
I love Guero too.
cmon, it's just so damn catchy.
i like guero a lot
and I still listen to it. I read somewhere that Beck said this new album sounds like the bridge between Guero and Sea Change- I think it might be in the vein of Mutations; more eclectic than Sea Change, but not as much as Guero.
i found guero
a bit dull but still enjoy getting miserable to sea change.
I loved Guero
It was my first Beck album, bought solely off the back of the stonkingly good E-Pro.
I subsequently went out and bought Odelay, Sea Change and Mellow Gold. All fantastic.
Majorly looking forward to seeing him at V fest, and supporting Radiohead.
Ive always been
a beck fan. Guero is a weak album with some ace moments, but Midnite Vultures is by far the worst album.
agree
aside from the brilliant Odelay I would say Stereopathetic Soul manure and Mutations were some of his best albums..
