can anyone explain to me why slipknot fans are referred to as maggots.
it seems quite degrading

Hmmmm. maggots eh? oh well their new rick-rubin produced albums a cracker! hope it gets a DiS review as its good enough for mainstream me thinks, although the maggot thing may come back and haunt them.....

its stupid. but my guess is that they think thats what theyre crowds look like when theyre 'going off'

probably. or maybe they like going fishing with them.

either way its a shit term. its not as shit as people who proclaim to be 'maggots' though. dont they realise? ah well, up the mAgGotSS!

I don't consider myself one of their "maggots" (i.e. 8-16 year old boys who love them and WWE wrestling in equal measures) but their third album is sounding excellent from what I've heard.

ok so you consider yourself a maggot, but for people who dont like slipknot so much it jus sounds stupid and, yeah makes me think of small kids who want to be part of a little group of their own.

anybody got some more thoughts where the name came from?
i still love the fishing one. makes me laugh so much thinkin of them there, sittin in their masks with a fishing rod.

i like slipknot, i think they are by far the best of the 'big' new heavy metal bands out there, because korn have been wank since 1996. but yeh, they are a great band, a gimmick group maybe, but its a damn good one, and they carry it off with such style and have the kick ass tunes to back it up. but if i have to be considered a maggot to like them, they can fuck off. anyway, i saw them in notts rock city years back and that'l still be the pinnacle for me slipknot wise. but yeh, best big rock band there is now.

i'm so jealouse :( i 'm so want to see them live its amazing isn't it :( and i find it quite offencive lol for you to not want to be called a maggot lol i now it is a bit sad to liked to be called it but it's so funny lol

just convince them its safe, as i went to reading last year for the weekend saw metallica system finch inme etc it was fucking brill and this year for the weekend too, marilyn manson at birmingham, limp bizkit at brixton, lostprophets wembley, and many more, and ive just turned 15, its completly safe and a great experience at festivals, gigs etc

i hate to say it but those have got to be the worst posts ever for me because you all have actually had fun when your my age and i'm still stuck on the not being allowed out part my mum nows these things are dangerous cause of my dad how is a police man so i'm basically screwed in that department lol :( but thanks for the advice it would probabily help someone with a more normall family lol :P

Nah, i wasnt when i was 14, i was a total fucking looser! Im only into it now and im 17, dont worry about it mate! you dont get to choose your family, no ones gonna judge you about it, not anyone worth being mates with anyway.

At the end of the day, long as your a safe guy its all good!

lol, talking about dangerous though, a guy died at a slipknot gig last week :S
