blink 182 rock more than slipknot. but it doesnt make either of them good.

In don't like slipknot, or people who post stuff like 'u fukn gay punker', but their drummer is really good. Hes also about the only good thing in a pretty godawful band. I like a bit of metal now and then, but slipknot just aren't a good band.

Firstly, I happen to like Slipknot alot, admittly i think they are pretty damn amazing, yet everyone has a right to their own opinions.

Secondly, you can not say Slipknot are shit, its just different and unique. If you do wish to say Slipknot are shit please try and give some reasoning to your answer. Do not just go "Slipknot are shit" because that is not constructive.

Fourthly, I do not know what is good/bad drumming as i can not play the drums, so the named drums players - Joey Jordison and Simon Phillips are good and bad in their own right.

This whole Slipknot are a boy band things is getting a little long in the tooth.

Firstly since when did Slipknot ask for a load of young fans and is that such a bad thing. I dont believe a bands fan base determines the quality of their music and if it did Oasis and Blur are worse than Slipknot.

Secondly Im sick of hearing about how Slipknot have sold out. They have stayed with the same label the whole time, Roadrunner Records, not a massive label really. And on that note didnt Franz Ferdinand just sign a massive deal with Epic, if that isnt selling out I dont know what it. Will they recieve flak from pretentious garage rock fans, I doubt it.

Thirdly you cannot taint a band with the same brush just because their popular as say Linkin Park who are manufactured. Linkin Parks band members were drawn together like for instance the Spice Girls.

Finally the whole nu metal tag is just another way for non metal fans to catergorize bands they do not like. If you dont like Slipknot then fair enough, no one is forcing you to, but slamming them for with simply ludicrous unfounded accusations is plain immature.

SlipKnot is the best. None can compare.

Best Drummer ever?? Bullshit, Steve White is fucking amazing but because hes not in a metl/rock band or in the limelight no one knows bout him. He's won Rhythm (Drumming magazine for drummers) Best drummer of the years for years running, i mean don't get me wrong Joey is good, but there are other good drummers.

my brother is well into this drumming malarkey and he says that vinnie coaliuta(think that's how u spell it), dave weckl and dennis chambers are the best drummers about.but they're in some jazz fusion (i know.sounds pretentious,doesn't it?)bands so theyre not as well known as your jordisons and smiths.
mind you it's only banging on a pig skin, isn't it?

and all of the above played for Sting, so if thats what greatness brings then the future sure is bright for the midget in the boiler suit.

Yup, another maggot has something to say..god how annoying. Well i'm gonna keep this short, put down slipknot all you want fine by me since i know i'm gonna think some of the bands you people like suck but hey, we all have a mutual feeling then. The reason why i'm annoyed though is why is someone going to review a bands album when they OBVIOUSLY don't like the band so are going to shit all over it before s/he has even heard any of their songs. Oh and in response to most of the statements i've read, the reason why you see alot of slipknot fans angry is because the songs, if you have ever sat down and read the lyrics otherwise you won't no this, are aggressive in their own right and appeal to the people who have had shit from people for most of their life...and it all comes out for some reason when they seem them live or listen to their music. Crazy i know but funny all at the same time...well maybe i didn't keep this as short as i was going to. Oh and the reason why they have 9 guys is because they wanted to give their music more than just as 3 maned busted sound, who are in my opinion the shittiest shit to ever shit and no i'm not saying the slipknot haters like them since i used to be a slipknot hater but wouldn't like busted even if i still hated slipknot, they're all good at what they do but most people just instinctly listen to corey and go 'oh no, screaming they must instinctivly suck balls'. you guys crack me up ! Children listen up. first of all those of you that are quick to dis are so sure of yourselves that you have fully figured a band out purely based on what you little you do know about the band or them as people. Yes they wear masks so did Kiss and kind diomond so do most death and black metal bands with the use of loads of make up, yes as much of slipknot is the image and stage show as it is the music. place yourselves in thier shoes and anyones shoes of a band who is signed. all you want to do is write music and be able to make a living from that. so you come up with a concept that has as much visual attraction as does the music becasue so your sure to stand out and be remembered. ANYONE who has ever played in a band will agree you want people to like your stuff and keep coming back to see you most all remember you, its your lifeblood .you have to admit they are another band that has thier own sound too with out ripping anyone off which is few and far between these days especialy in metal . Corey Taylors vocals are often ( not always ) super intelligent and amazingly writen regardless of content and in which manor they are being used. Any writer out there would have to agree once they read the lyrics. Nothing lyrically in any of the slipknot or many metal bands for that matter are personally unfelt emotionally by anyone at some point in everyday life, only difference is they get them out and deal with them in music intead of beating the shit out of someone or getting bad depression ,as does pretty much everyone who can wirte a song regardless of genre. So they got really big with "iowa" , who gives a shit so the record company pumped loads of cash into marketing them. Sad to say people they have ABSOLUTLY no say or input when it comes to that. the first record deal ANY band signs these day consists of normally a 2 or 3 album agreement unless its a very small private label. The band HAS to just do as its told inregards to signings, promos and limited content on albums or they wind up in court for breaking the contract, its that simple . At the end of the day stop and think about it for a second and im not talking just about slipknot but anyone. just becasue you dont like thier music doesnt mean they are crap muso's bad people and most curtanly not dumb , as cut throat as the music industry is there is no way idiots can get that far. the work still has to put in more so than anyone by the band. Next time you see slipknot , marilyn Manson , who ever ,onstage think to yourself , this is as much as a show ( ie theatre ) as it is a music gig and look at them, youll agree that they are all infact like late 20's if not early 30's so they have been around for a while , played thier instuments for like 18 years atleast figured a few things about life out. some thing that most fans forget most often than not these guys you love and put so high or put down are twice your age and know a little but more dont be sure you know anything about them other than the ENTERTAINMENT that they simply are. You may not like to look at them you may not like to listen to them but who ever they are you have to atleast respect them as people purly becasue you dont know anything about them outside the band but it is very obvious they have worked fucking hard to get to the point where thier onstage filling arenas or selling 200,000 albums, its not handed to anyone , only the strongest most dedicated most hardworking most original and unique sounding with something to offer other than just the music make it these day. I hate to say it but thats all styles of music, as much as i really dont get anything from hearing justin timberlake , britney fuck whoever , i know nothing about them but they could actually be pretty wicked people DAY JOBS ASIDE ! Plus im pretty sure they will acheive more and already have done than i EVER will so whos the smaller man now and whos gonna have the last laugh everytime!

Ha i almost left then i saw all the comments on joey Jordison's drumming. Massimo how can you not say he is one of the best out there when people like Simon Philips , Dave Weckle , Dennis Chambers , and various other VERY well known drummers in drumming circles have all at some time been noted in commenting that Joey Jordison is infact one of the best drummers in his genre today, You cant compare 2 differnt muso's from completely differnt genre's as together as each will have fully differnt strengths but in thier own right each as good as each other at what they do. Drumming is not just about " hitting a pig skin " as some nody commented. listen to Danny Carey from Tool and tell me its not an art form. shit hope this dosent turn into a drumming thread now !

Firstly i want to make a point: slipknot rule, but ur all intitled to ur own twisted little opinions.
Secondly i also feel that the people who dis slipknot here rarely state what bands they like themselves. Are they to ashamed to state that they secretly like the fast food rockers 4 fear of ridicule?
Thirdly people who think slipknot just scream into microphones, or can't play instruments obviously have no musical knowledge themselves because that is blatantly not true.

Some of you may or may not like the band slipknot and their music...but i saw them last monday live at Roseland in NYC. Their live show would definately change your mind, they ARE a live band.

Mooseman - i work for roadrunner records, i also have met slipknot and other bands. The image isnt for the money, they were using it to hide their identitys. Also it brings out their music, they would have rather stayed anomynous. One thing i have to give you tho - Chimaira was at the same show (my 4th time seeing them) and they fucking rocked.

If you want to form an opinion check out their Disasterpeices DVD. It would be well worth your dollar, no matter what you think of them now..i guarentee it will change your mind.

And they are odviously not doing it for the money. They made so much fucking cash when IOWA came out, they dont need anymore haha. They told me themselves that they are doing it because its their lives, they are a dedicated band and i give them a lot of fucking credit.
