Glasto Sells Out

Tickets for the Glastonbury Festival have sold out after going on sale at 8.00pm on Thursday night. As 300,000 initially people logged on to the website, phone lines were jammed throughout the night and during today.

Despite the frustrations the universal feeling is that this system is much fairer. With purchases limited to two tickets per person and with the tickets non-transferable (gate checks will verify purchaser details), it is hoped that the majority will go to true fans rather than touts.

Still, this will be little comfort for the many fans left disappointed by missing out.

VF writer Duncan Hall, 22, from Keele told us: “I spent four hours hanging on the phone, but I’d rather do that than spend double the money buying them from an internet tout.”

The investment in the new ticket vending system follows ongoing investment by Glastonbury owner Michael Eavis, who has spent millions of pounds implementing countless new fencing and security measures to ensure the event consistently exceeds licensing regulations.

Eavis commented on BBC Radio Five Live: "The internet site went down in the night - the system overloaded. So we will need more equipment there next year. We can improve the software, definitely - but is it a good thing to sell them all out in one hour? We could have sold them out last night in five minutes. I'd rather string it out a bit."

Aloud.com who were the sole vendor for tickets, claimed they had not predicted the high demand for tickets, despite last year's event, which did not feature a two ticket restriction, selling out in 26 hours. They did not say what their prediction was therefore based upon.

A host of humorous fake 'auctions' have appeared on eBay mocking Aloud. Read an article on them here.

As is usually the case, the line-up for the event will be confirmed by the organisers once the tickets have sold out. No comments have been as of yet. A selection of acts, including Sir Paul McCartney and Chemical Brothers have publicly confirmed their involvement for the event, which takes place on Worthy Farm between 25-27 June.

DiScuss: What experiences did you have? Who do you want to play? Should smoking be banned from Glasto? Do you know any touts? Are you a tout? Who will be this year's 'star of Glasto'?

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I spent an hour and twenty minutes hitting back and then 'submit' at the bottom of the order form until my order went through. I know people that were on there for hours and hours and hours...aloud.com/wayahead are shit. It IS possible to have enough bandwidth to deal with the amount of people that want tickets, but for some reason they did not. twats. I haven't got my confirmation email yet either. worried times.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I got a tickets this morning as my mate sent me a link to the website that worked first time. Spent hours last night on the net and phoning getting nowhere.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

hurrah for us. here's hoping that the festival doesn't get invaded by the yobbier side of Oasis' fanbase.
For some reason the idea of a shitload of people being drunk + lairy and pretending to be from manchester troubles me.

Prince Will Be The Star Of Glastonbury 2004

If PRINCE plays, the Purple genius will be the star of Glasto 2004. If not, MUSE will walk away with the title!

Having said that, it looks like Prince is playing in the USA on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th June, so it's unlikely he'll make it to Glasto in time to play on the Sunday.

Re: Prince Will Be The Star Of Glastonbury 2004

yeh i think im going to have to forget seeing prince at glasto with these latest tour dates up. Goddammit! He would have put on such a wicked show, last time he plays the greatest hits. Just gotta hope he comes over to the UK in the autumn, ill definately be there...

and, as IF muse are going to be stars of glasto 2004...

Re: Prince Will Be The Star Of Glastonbury 2004

Maybe he'll play Glasto in 2005 (or not)! Or maybe I can convince The Eden Project in Cornwall to put him on later this year. That would be even better than him playing Glasto - in fact that could be the best idea I've had all year.

Anyway, rumour has it Prince will be playing some of the UK's better venues (I guess we're talking Brixton Academy and so on) later this year (dates and venues still to be confirmed).

Will just have to settle for what is an amazing new single Musicology (out 12th April) and album Musicology (out 19th April) for now. Rumour has it that the album is already selling in huge quantites via Pre-orders (HMV/Amazon and so on) - let's hope it's another number one album for one of the most influential artists of all time.

What with everyone releasing Prince-influenced/sounding tunes in recent months/years (Outkast/New Sector Movements/Alicia Keys/NERD/Missy Elliott/Beverley Kinight etc. etc.), it's about time the man himself made a triumpthant return.

As for MUSE, they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen - a unique, fresh and simply mind-blowing rock band not afraid to experiment and make the music they want to make - instead of bending over backwards to produce the sort of material that's 'in' with the music industry or mass public. Muse are a rock band with a future, which can't be said for a lot of the other so-called rock bands who are 'in-bed-with-NME' and so on.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I got through at 12.30 am. I was ringing, and a clicking and a hopin'.....and I finally got through. I really don't think that any server or connection could cope with that many hits that quickly.....so I can't complain about that.

Its just a shame that there have to be all these rules, so that people don't get ripped off.

It used to be about the music, and all that.

to Josh above, you should have got a confirmation email by now.

ring them and check asap. i got mine within 30 mins of it going through.

good luck y'all!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

eek shit. beginning to worry. which number should i ring? a general aloud.com one or the specific glastonbury orders one?

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

argh all numbers engaged

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

0871 22 00 260.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I tried again at 5am
Then again from 7am to 8.30
Ive been calling continually from 9 to now and refreshing constantly and haven't had anthing but a black Busy web page and that blimmin BT woman

Have tey all sold? can you help me?
Does it matter where you call from ? I'm in wiltshire

I'm at the end of my rope here - short of calling from 5.15 to 7am theres not much more I could have done - and I needed 2 hours of sleep to be able to go to work

heeeellllllppppp !

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

0871 22 00 260.
try that dude, thats the one that comes with the confirmation email.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

thoroughly engaged. i shan't worry TOO much yet, as i printed off the page saying 'thankyou for booking online with aloud.com for your glastonbury tickets etc etc' ...So i can't see what could have gone wrong. probably my email being shit.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Did anyone get any confirmation after buying tickets over the phone?
The girl said it was confirmed, then hung up!
The worry of all this is really getting to me.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

By the way I got mine through this number:

A good number of people in the UK have succeeded in buying tickets through the international number - 01159 934170 (+44 1159 934170 from overseas) - while having had no luck using the normal number (below). They appear to be accepting UK orders thru this number with no problems - it's up to you whether you give it a go or not.

From e-festivals.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Book your tickets here! At the time of writing there should be about 35,000 left (they are selling around 5,000 an hour at a steady rate according to Emily Eavis interviewed on Xfm, which explains why it's such a nightmare), and this URL is slightly different to the one you get on the aloud site, but is working fairly speedily:

https://freya.wayahead-secure.co.uk/glastonbury2004/orderform.asp?showcode=110000&pricetype=7&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&filler1=glastonbury

Copy'n'paste the whole thing, and buy me a beer at the festival for saving the day.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

this is silly, isnt it? i mean really.

and does anybody else now physically hate that smug BT woman who just LOVES telling you how busy they are?

adam p.s. check out my demo review on DiS!!! THE AMBERS BAND........

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Definitely. The way she says "moment" - with ridiculous emphasis on the first syllable fills me with an uncontrollable rage.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

fuck that! buy me one natts for posting it on dis first! ; )

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Got mine but it was a pure living hell. Used the link above in the end. I was trying from 8-1 last night and again at 4am (I set my alarm!)

Absoulete nightmare. They need to sort it out.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

any confirmation if the link above is valid. Bit worried by the addition of 'freya' to the link. Anyone successfully book through aloud site get to this address?

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

It's perfectly valid. You get an e-mail confirmation 10-15 minutes later from See Tickets, who are Aloud, who are Way Ahead, who are gigsandtours.com... it's all the same system. Freya is just one of their machines.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I tried that link a minute ago. I got a message saying there wasn't enough tickets left for the amount I'd requested (which was 2).

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

That's because they're restricting the amount of tickets being sold online to match the telephone sales. They don't want people without 'net access complaining that they didn't get a fair chance. So just retry on that page, and from all accounts you will get confirmation eventually.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

im paranoid i know, but im still not that convinced by that link

im hope its ok coz i used it, but it wouldnt be that hard to send you an email from what appears to be seetickets.com

heres hoping!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Success at 5am. Despite the cost to my sanity, I believe I count as one of the lucky ones...

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Took til 3am, at which point I got sent two confirmation emails in quick succession, despite never having got from the order form to anything other than a 'this service is busy' page.

I know of quite a few other people who the same thing happened to so I would imagine that when they realise that there's a lot of accidental second purchases those are going to go back on sale again

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

thanx natts after 18 hours of tryin the link i used that freya one n got to the details page

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I tried another link - https://212.69.230.97/glastonbury2004/orderform.asp?showcode=110000&pricetype=7&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&filler1=glastonbury and I have run traces on all the webservers in use and they are all on the same core network at the same ISP.

I got my tickets third go and then got an email confirmation shortly after.

Besides, it is a debit card transaction and far harder to do fraudulently.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

In fact you might like to try:
https://212.69.230.98/glastonbury2004/orderform.asp?showcode=110000&pricetype=7&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&filler1=glastonbury

From what I can make out 212.69.230.96 is the regular web page, 212.69.230.97 is Freya and 212.69.230.98 is another test server on their network. It is not unusual for a company to have a server which they use as a front end one and then a couple of others for testing and development which work fine but are not published.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

They've probably got more than one server as production, and it will flip over from one to the other depending on the traffic on the box. That's how it's normally done. Test and development servers wouldn't be able to be accessed externally...

Well I hope not anyway...

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

If this was a load balancing box then I would expect it to be just as loaded... by using the round robin effect of multiple dns entries they could have ensured that the traffic was split roughly 50-50. Also the certificate is not quite right so I doubt it is a production box.
I know that test boxes are normally kept 'off the air' but this whole thing has been done rather badly by the companies concerned so I would not be surprised.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

i keep getting 'there is an error on your form please resubmit your details'. how do you know when your order is confirmed?

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I kept getting that, and never actually came up with a page saying thanks for your order but i got the confirmation email so i guess you should check your email.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

how long did it take to come through? no email as yet!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

oh and duz the email give u any idea as to when the tickets will arrive? the details form says a signature will be required.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Hi guys, just got my tickets (finally at 3pm) from the freya URL. It's valid, it just shortcuts a few stages and gets straight through to a specific server. I got desperate for a while and tried a load of other Norse gods but none worked! So, there are still tickets anyway (as of an hour ago).

The 'error on form' and 'not enough tickets' messages can be ignored - just click back and keep submitting and it should work in the end. (took me about 40 resubmits though and it takes ages of course... be patient)

Unfortunately it looks like I've accidentally ended up with two sets of 2 tickets... I got 2 confirmation emails, with different ref numbers. Aparently this has happened to quite a few people... I'd better be able to cancel the extra order (unless it gets cancelled automatically later on?)

good luck if you're still trying!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Me & my friends started phoning at 8pm last night - It takes 5 seconds to dial, hear the BT bint tell you the networks are busy or the Aloud.com sheila tell you to try the net. & then hang up and start again.

So 5 seconds x 12 = 1 minute = 720 calls an hour. It took us 13.5 hours to get through and buy the tickets - I guess this means that me & my mate dialled the phone approximately 9,720 times - coz we did it continuously. When one of us wanted a rest the other took over - it was non-stop.

To those of you who suceeded - congratulations & see you there - have just got back from work & I'm off to sleep now - nightie nite all

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

oh my god i thought i'd accidently closed the About window for a second. i dont think iv ever panicked so much! i dont think i'll do that again im not a big fan of hyper-ventilating! just shows how much the pressure is building up on everybody's minds.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

i got my confirmation over the phone after trying to get through for about 6 hours. fucking shite.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Hi Guys,
I tried the Fraya link and go past the input form. I recieved a blank confirmation emial. What do you make of this. Do you think the transaction was sucessful??

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Is anyone elses confirmation number the same backwards as forwards? It's freaking me out a bit, and I just want to make sure its a co-incidence.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

standard looking confirmation number. If it is fraud, you have to credit them for a bang up job.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

i'm gettin stressed now. no confirmation email and 80,000 tickets sold already! what the fuck r we supposed to do?

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Anyone else getting anything other than "Not enough tickets"? Nothing on web yet about it being sold out.

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

Don't worry about that message... read the rest of this topic! Aparently they're matching online sales to phone sales. I got the message loads of times (40ish) before I did a submit of the details form that worked. Keep trying!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

@Bishop113 : I got this error a couple of times from the freya host but persevered and eventually suceeded in booking my weekend in the farm.

I don't believe I would have made it without that URL. Thanks a billion to natts, you helped get to Glastonbury! Although I had to change it slightly for the overseas booking page (I am in Ireland)

...so for overseas:
https://freya.wayahead-secure.co.uk/glastonbury2004/orderform-int.asp?showcode=110000&pricetype=3&pricetype2=9&pricetype3=10&filler1=glastonbury

A work mate of mine has also got 2 confirmation emails... anyone know how to proceed with that?

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I emailed them straight away, pointed out that it was a mistake largely caused by their system not working well and asked for them to cancel one of the two orders.
I haven't heard anything back yet but I can't think what else to do about it

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

i cant get anything except 'error on your form'. this is all iv got for four hours. has anyone else experienced as much of this or am i doing something wrong?

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I did get this but I succeeded after a few tries... Maybe you DO have an error on your form, like the expiry date on card is wrong or something like that. Check all the fields are correct.

I guess that a lot of people have actually booked tickets twice, so it is very likely that these will be re-issued at a later date when that mess is sorted out. So even if you don't succeed today, you may get a chance another day....

Keep trying and good luck!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

how many is a few tries? ive been trying the freya thing for a whilse now with no luck

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

now four and a half hours n no luck here yet either. looks like we'll be watchin it on tv

Re: Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I won't be.I'll be sulking quietly somewhere

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

I got in to the order form at 4pm using the freya address, but have been getting credit card/ form error and try purchasing less ticket messages since. Has "bless this mess" had any luck yet? How long and how many tries did it take people to get confirmation that their order had been accepted? Although the site hasn't told me my order has been accepted, I have been checking my e-mails regularly but haven't received anything. I don't know much about computers/web etc, but now when I submit my request, it rejects it immediately whereas before it contemplated it for a little while - does this mean anything!?

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

sounds exactly like whats been happening to me. i think everyone coming home from work has jammed the server. i was getting error messages for hours then all of a sudden its started flicking straight to 'this page cannot be displayed'. im wondering if certain areas are getting through at certain times. where abouts are you? im seriously considering giving up- 23 hours in front of a PC is not good for you!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

now its sayin not enough tickets left... aaaaargh!!!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

It's alternating between not enough tickets and error on form. I actually submitted another form on one of the other links that someone suggested (https://212.69.230.97/glastonbury . . .) but that has just been searching for a server for god knows how long. Has anybody managed to get any tickets in the past hour or so? - I need some hope and reassurance!

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

quote from a text from my sister "i never swear but ARGH FUCKINELL i been on the phone since 8 last night trying to get glasto tickets!"
she doth feelth your pain-eth.

Glast-Off! Tickets are nearly gone

i was trying for the first hour, then went out and came back about 3, tried for a couple of hours in a drunken state then went to sleep till about 7. i was trying until about 9 when my mate gave me what i presume was that freya like and i got em right away. i dont think i would have if it wasnt for that link, i was convinced at first it was fake but im fairly sure its ok now

Glasto Sells Out

Very, very upset I didn't get any tickets this year despite trying the hotline from 8pm until 3am then waking up at 5am and trying all day...;-( None of my mates got tickets either. This has never happened to me before- why, why, why no joy this year?! Very annoyed!

Glasto Sells Out

I'd like to question this 'universal feeling' that Mr Future is talking about. Despite getting tickets, I had an absolute nightmare trying to get them and I'm sure all the people who didn't get them would agree that this 'universal feeling' is not so universal after all. The only problem is, it's difficult to think of a fairer system.

Glasto Sells Out

What a load of bollox! After all those links and the perseverence i gave up at ten to eight only to find out they sold out about ten mintues later. In the end only one pair of our friends ended up with tickets, and they're returning them because they dont want to go without everyone else. If they use the same system next year i may as well book 2 days off work now- one to sit in front of the PC with the phone in one hand trying to get tickets, and one to recover from the sleep deprevation.

Glasto Sells Out

I'm sorry, but even if the system was better, it would just mean the same amount of tickets would be sold, just faster, and then im sure just as many people would moan. Whatever way you look at it, its never going to work out well for everyone.

Re: Glasto Sells Out

im assuming your one of the lucky ones who managed to get tickets. im sure if you hadnt been so lucky you would be agreeing with us

Re: Glasto Sells Out

you assume correctly, but i doubt very much i would be agreeing with you.

Re: Glasto Sells Out

i tried for 2 days, getting about 2 hours of sleep in total and i still didnt get through. they need to re-think their system as this one clearly doesnt work. if they distributed tickets from more than one agency then im sure it would ahve been more sucessful.

Glasto Sells Out

what's a "VF writer"?

Glasto Sells Out

its fair enough they only allow 2 tickets per credit card but i think they should sell tickets on more than one site/phoneline. i was
