Blazin' Squad to Rap England to Victory?

Rumours abound that pop-rappers Blazin' Squad are to pen the official song for the England football team's Euro 2004 campaign.

The FA haven't made any confirmation as yet, but surely the tracksuited London scallys can't rap any worse than John Barnes? All together now... "You've got to move and kick, but do it at the right time..."

The tournament's official song will be performed by Nelly Furtado. A final decision on England's song will be made at the end of the month. DiS can't wait, but if any member of Ocean Colour Scene is involved we'll be down Soho Square with a sock-full of pennies quicker than Chris Waddle's penalty* went into orbit.

And remember kids, there really is only one way to beat them... get 'round the back.

*If you're too young to remember, ask your dad.

Anyone interested in some real hip-hop?

One of the UK's freshest new hip-hop outfits, 'Vinyl Dialect' release their new long-player "Dialect" through Bad Magic/Wall Of Sound on Monday (12th April). It's yet another stroke of UK hip-hop genius worthy of it's place in anyone's record collection.

Plus, the likes of Fingathing, Jehst, The Cohorts, Gert Biggun and Lewis Parker deserve big shout out's for releasing some mighty fine records recently. UK hip-hop has never sounded so good.

Plus the new album from LA hip-hop collective Dilated Peoples is well worth a listen - it's got some cracking new tunes on it.

Yet more hip-hop acts who've released some powerful hip-hop recently inlcude The Roots, J5, Twista and the Sian Supa Crew.
