The line up for this year’s Virgin Trains Move Festival has been announced. The event takes place from 8-11 July at the Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Old Trafford, Manchester and it looks like being a belter.

Madness (Thurs 8) are joined by Ocean Colour Scene, Elbow join The Cure on the Friday, Stereophonics and Pixies play on the Saturday, with Morrissey wrapping things up on Sunday 11 July.

Tickets are £85 for four days or £30 each day, and go on sale this Friday.

Morrissey is also confirmed to play the Reading and Leeds Festivals, as well as curating this year’s Meltdown at the Royal Festival Hall in London. He is also rumoured to play Glastonbury. The announcement will be a welcome one for many northern based fans, however.

"His love affair with Manchester is legendary, and having sold out 15,000 tickets for his M.E.N. Arena gig in two hours, this will no doubt prove to be the hottest ticket of the summer," said a spokesman for promoters SJM.

"How relevant is Morrissey?"

That's rhetorical, surely? Akin to "How good is that song?" when considering just how good "Irish Blood, English Heart" is (pauses for thought and then realises that if they were both rhetorical statements, as demonstrated, then they would be punctuated with an exclaimation mark and not a question mark. Dagnamit).

I'll be trying to buy a ticket anyway (like I tried, and ultimately failed, to buy one of the M.E.N. arena)....

er...how good exactly was this supposed "good" you claim Stereophonics once were? Surely they and the Pixies are polar opposites in terms of everything that's good+important/bad+backward about the last 15-odd years of music - it's like MBV reforming then bunging them beneath a Noel Gallagher solo set on a lineup.
Sat next to the Pixies on that bill, they already look more of a joke than they ever have done up to now (some doing). And it doesn't even happen for three months..

thank fuck for Primavera Sound in Barca next month, s'all I'm saying...

Word Gets Around was pretty good, I always thought.
Granted, not as good as, to quote your example, the Pixies. But they were good enough back then.

I saw that as well.The laboratory was a front,though.It got closed down when it was discovered to be a fake factory.It was wrapping wood shavings and stuff from down the back of abandoned sofas,in Golden Virginia wrappers,and selling it on to the public.

It looks like we've got to look forward to the plague of Morrissey at every summer festival. Oh well, you can't make an Omelette...

..and no im not counting V. Its got Pixies and Snow Patrol, but thats it...why cant morrissey play that too
