The Truck Festival returns for a seventh year between 24-25 July, and a host of acts are already confirmed. Tickets are on sale now priced at just £25 from www.wegottickets.com.

Run by the band Goldrush and a host of other like-minded souls at their Truck label, it now has a capacity of 3,000 and will be further cementing its reputation as being the UK’s only truly independent music festival. It’s known for showcasing a vast array of music, often missed by other events. Donating over £20,000 to various charities from Art Therapy to Mali Redevelopment, it does its bit too. Last year over £3,000 was made on banana milkshake alone!

Truck replaces advertising boards with passion and overpriced, under-prepared food with locally-produced niceness. It may be a bit too ‘indie’ for hardcore V Festival goers, but it’s the perfect remedy for those Glasto sellout blues and for anyone who fancies a chilled out, relaxing weekend where great new music is top of the menu.

Acts confirmed so far:

Goldrush, Buck 65, Black Nielson, KTB, Dive Dive, Chris T-T, KaitO, MC Lars, Trademark, Toulouse, Days Of Grace, Tiger Club, eeeblee, Villa Real, Nervous Test Pilot, The Evenings, Piney Gir, Luke Smith, Igloo, I Love Lucy, Black Madonnas, Swearing at Motorists, Sunnyvale Noise Sub-Element, The Epsteins, The Shit, Stars of Aviation, Orf Orchestra, Sha La La’s, Lach, Kate Garrett, Thomas Truax, Chantelle Pike, and The Henry Big Band.

Truck Festival 2004 takes place at Hill Farm, Steventon, Oxfordshire, on July 24th-25th.

Truck and Field

any festival featuring a band called "The Shit" has got to be worth going to

Truck and Field

less apetising than usual, but, gosh darn it, its still a great weekend

Truck and Field

Is ATP not truly independent? Or not truly a festiavl?

Not that I am criticising Truck in anyway. Any festival with Thomas Truax on the bill is alright by me.

Truck and Field

everyone who goes to truck must, must, MUST see The Epstein. they rule many times over. unbelievably feelgood tunes

sure ATP's independent...but...a festival? not too sure bout that. more of a series of acts...no festival atmosphere. and where Truck has "The Shit", ATP had "Fuck". who were ridiculously funny. and good, which helps.

Re: Truck and Field

The $hit are also very funny, in a GLC kinda way, but maybe not as bling

Truck and Field

Jetplane Landing have also said they're playing :D

Truck and Field

i havent been to atp, but i would guess that it is the only festival that could be as good as truck - it fucking rules! everything from the random array of fantastic bands to the dirt cheap burgers and beers.

Re: Truck and Field

Nope, Truck wins. I've not been but I will agree to anything for cheap beer.

Beer at ATP is still cheaper then corporate shite festivals though.

Truck and Field

pretty good line-up, but must confess ignorance to most of the names. When do we start hassling Broken Family Band, Ballboy, St Thomas, Saloon, Pedro and other great bands to turn up?

Re: Truck and Field

broken family band did play at truck either last year, or year before, cant remember

Re: Truck and Field

they did both. last year they headlined the tent on the sunday night (while i was onstage with ktb, so i couldn't see them. grrr) and the year before they were on earlish on the main stage on sunday (bringing along junk they found at the nearby car boot sale)

Re: Truck and Field

you in will bartlett orchestra then? i must confess to not actually ktb that much :( ! but elephants n honey is such a lovely, lovely song

Truck and Field

Surprisingly I've still not been to truck despite living in oxford for 2 or 3 years... I'll definately be there this year after my finals :-) The line-up looks fun, nearly all bands that have played at trailerpark nights at the cellar infact which I would say is a good thing.

Truck and Field

sad to hear that MBICR have all but disbanded though, that's almost as disappointing as last year when Ooberman were gonna play but split up just before. Don't know if I can be arsed this year; mainly because I'm still bitter at being turned down to play ourselves.

Truck and Field

can someone tell me more about Truck please? it sounds interesting, i'm after info suchas the general setup, how many stages and whatnot.

thankew

Re: Truck and Field

Right. it's in the middle of nowhere. just outside a small village called steventon in oxfordshife. easy acess (well, quite easy) from reading and oxford. capacity of 3000 TOPS (i reckon it's smaller personally), all stages in 1 field, camping in 2 others, car parking no prob. it has 4 stages:

the main stage: nuff said. pretty varied, all the biggest names

the barn stage: in a barn unsurprisingly, pretty heavy rock during the day, then dj's at night: always used to be pretty big drum n bass names but last year it went hip hop on us: rodney P and taskforce, big in underground uk hip hop.

the tent that at one point could not be named: small stage in a marquee playing allkindsashit, last year at night they had a cool mash-up dj on with AMAZING visuals

the chillout tent: well, yeah, it's relakxed for sure, but its not all morcheeba. some of the more low-key but often most interesting bands during the day, a crazy electronica/psy-trance/goa/ambient mix at night. amazing trippy decorations.

in the same field are all the food stalls etc: main food stall is the local rotary club (yes, it's THAT village) with amazing cheap burgers/chips/tea/coffee etc....there are donuts, mad transvestites on the (pretty cheap) bar, local vicar giving out amnesty, 2/3 merch/gimmik stalls......etc etc

all in all, it's seriously laid back and bloody good fun in a calm, docile countryside kinda way. it's well worth going, just don't expect bigness. it's tiny and lovely.

Re: Truck and Field

local vicar giving out amnesty?!?!?! what am i on about? he may well be, but he also gives out ice-cream. there is normally a charity tent of some kind, hence my mental diorreah of 'amnesty'

Truck and Field

I like the sound of an amnesty vicar though, some religious figure dedicated to offering protection to those who need it... perhaps a little too close in spirit to Monty Python's "The Bishop" though to make a go of it.

Truck's really lovely. I've only been the once but it was a grand weekend, very sunny, and I didn't observe an overflowing lavatory until just after midnight on Saturday. Sadly I was in the cubicle next to it but ne'er mind, a bout of inspired athleticism in the jumping department got me out safely and, most crucially, with clothing dry. Everyone should go! Sadly I might be in Dublin that weekend on a performance trip...
