Bryne said: "If the next record doesn't work then, yeah, it might be the end."
Tubby fifth of the group, Bryan McFadden, left the group earlier this year. Existing fourth Shane Filan admitted that the band's shelf life will run out soon.
Obviously this pessimistic attitude could just be a way of currying sympathy within the group's existing fanbase, thus ensuring the next record, the first without McFadden, performs well.
DiScuss: Do Westlife really get on your tits, or are they an act that you can just avoid, unlike, say, novelty pop hits and the bloody Black Eyed Peas. Could this announcement have anything to do with this morning's reports that Boyzone may be reforming?

westlife came together because they applied via an advert for "the next big pop thing" etc. they were told how to dress, how to dance, how to act and taught to sing in tune. then they get signed. now they become legally obliged to not cause any offence, do anything untoward or look "un pop-like", such as get drunk at parties with cameras in etc etc because it's in their financial interest not to (i.e. they'd get dropped). so now they are completely manipulated and unable to break these contracts. this is how their career has panned out for them thus far. fun!!! these guys who, at the end of the day, are just like you and i, have to do as they are told by their record label like some kind of naughty school children. and the worst part of all this is, they're mid to late twenties!! just imagine being kept in detention and thinking how unfair it is because you have no say in the matter or can't discuss it rationally etc. this is how they are being made to live their "superstar" lives...and on the age thing, doesn't it strike you as weird how these mid to late twenty year olds love being followed/stalked/idolised by pre 16 year old girls. by my book that's wrong and very fucked up!!!!! if it was your average joe in the street being followed by said girls, they'd run a mile. does it make it o.k just because their singers?????
i don't like westlife. some pop music is entertaining and at the end of the day it's down to personal taste. with bands like westlife, however, i can only see a very sinister and sorry state and not the great pop bands you all claim them to be.
