It would be wrong to call Profane’s 2004 untitled demo melodic post hardcore. They are in fact both hardcore AND melodic - just never at the same time. Opening track 'Like Branding the Cattle…' introduces you to a world of bass heavy Goth rock drumming, accompanied by Raging Speedhorn/Earthtone 9 ‘angry and shouty’ vocals that leave you a shit-scared heap in the corner. The fragile melodic side of Profane then returns to caress you with interesting slightly eastern sounding phrases of guitar instrumental post rock lullaby! Shouty, scary then sincere and mysterious, and with a Metal Hammer "demo of the month" award recently - surely it won’t be too long before Profane find a label to release this CD as a full EP later in the year.
