I would say Modest Mouse yet I have the feeling people may shout about how is been out in the US for ages so I will withdraw that. But i am looking foward to Razorlight, Trail of our Dead (if that is to be believed), Jeffery Lewis (another longshot) and hopefully the dignified ending of E. Smith (I am witing for the inevitable best of)

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

For me it's definitely the new Wilco album, 'A Ghost Is Born'.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

An Elliott Smith album would be sweet. I just hope it doesn't turn into a Jeff Buckley thing where a new album is released every week for the next decade.

I'm also looking forward to The Follow 'An Empty Orchestra'.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

I'm looking forward to Kill Kenada, Prodigy, Interpol, ...Trail of Dead, Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party, The Glitterati, Future Ex-Wife

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

I'm looking forward to:

Cam'ron
Girls Aloud
Converge
Blood Brothers
Nas
Jadakiss

Things i've heard

Modest Mouse - Bad, but i didn't have high hopes for this. Moon and Antartica was a band working at their peak. They won't top it.

Wilco - Ditto for this album.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

im looking forward to the GLC album
kidz with toyz album
new manics album
and any material by johnny boy, i need to hear more of that band

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Bloc Party - Just discovered them. Keen to hear more from them.

Any one of Ryan Adams' 50 albums that are lying around.

REM - They perfected their sound early but I still love them.

The Follow - Keen to hear what working with Lee Ranaldo has done to them.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

new girls aloud single sucks though. it'd be better if they just released variations on 'no good advice'. new dillinger album should be fun.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

If by sucks you mean fucking rules then yeah, you're right.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

saw it again last night on cd:uk hotshots and have since changed my opinion. so yes, now by saying sucks i do in fact mean that it rules.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Modest Mouse: do you honestly think it's BAD?? Just because they haven't topped M and A doesn't make it a bad album... Ditto Room on Fire cf. Is this it? I think Good News... is just utterly brilliant, for what it's worth. Float Along, along with The Walkmen's 'the Rat', is about my favourite song of the year and if ever you buy an album for one song (not that that is the case with this album) then make it this one. Plenty more great tracks besides: 'the world at large', 'ocean breathes salty' (those two with 'float along' make a pretty punchy start to the album), 'Blame it on the tetons' (great french gag there...), and the BEAUTIFUL 'one chance'. Just get it you won't regret it. And go and see them at the Empire

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

offcourse I'm interested what girls aloud have been cooking up, no doubt getting there benefit forms all in order when they have to bit the bullet and sign on again, but they had a good inings. also looking forward to those kings of comedy GLC.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

New manics album gets my shout

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

new finch, new manson, new inme (for pure interest on how it will differ), and out of all the releases of 2004, NEW SYSTEM OF A DOWN..gets my vote

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Reuben, Million Dead, My Chemical Romance & Finch prodominently

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

i got my chemical romance and it isn't in the same league as their debut but i still very very good....i nwas looking forward to hope of the states until i got it!!! (it rules)

i am now looking forward to taking back sunday......biffy clyro....and later this, coheed and cambria and also the marsvolta if they do release something this year.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Definitely Mars Volta, apparently shuld be out in eraly autumn. Elliott Smith would be great, but so sad. Bright Eyes anyone?

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Interpol have an album out this year?! Well then if that's true then I'm looking forward to that. Also Black Nielson's new album and Mindwire's E.p not that any of you have heard of them... or have you?

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Surely the most anticipated album of this year is Brian Wilson's re-recorded "Smile"?

I'll go with Interpol, too - still not sure about their decision to work with the same producer but I'll buy anything they do on the back of the first one.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

most anticipated album of 2004 would have to be the burning brides forthcoming shitkicker-'leave no ashes' anyone able to enlighten me as to when that one hits the stores/ maybe i'm just out of the loop but i've not seen or heard anything about it if it is already released...word has it that one mr j. homme had got behind the mixing board-just something i heard on the 'grapevine' (buddyhead so yr guess is as good as mine!)

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

They should have released the original smile sessions.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

I like the production of "Turn on the Bright Lights" so I have no problem with their choice (although the drum sound was a bit 'dry')... can't wait for it!

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

For me the most eagerly awaited album was Marillion's Marbles, simply brilliant

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

There are a fair few now I think about it:
....Trail Of Dead
Dillinger
Converge
Sparta
Interpol
Isis (maybe?)
Explosions In The Sky (re-release of the first album)
Mars Volta (apparently one of the songs 30 minutes long....heh heh)
Cult Of Luna
And anyone who doesn't own either the new Sonic Youth album or the new Mono album; shame on you.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Explosions in the Sky's first album is shit.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

I wouldn't expect it to be as good as their other two but seeing as their my favourite band by a country mile, I'm at the very least interested in how they've progressed. And having heard a few clips off it, I reckon it sounds pretty damn good.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

don't listen to Raanraals, the first album is probably my favourite.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

I'd been eagerly anticipating the new Nekromantix album, Dead Girls Don't Cry. I was so excited when I bought it and brought it home to stick into my stereo. So imagine my utter disappointment when I turned up the volume to hear... I don't even know. I heard a band that I used to love just SUCKING.

Their old stuff is brilliant, and the new stuff keeps getting worse and worse. I wish they'd just stop putting out albums now.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

new my chemical romance album :D

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

i'd very much like to hear and get my hands on the following

Bloc Party
Interpol
Ladytron's EP or Album (whichever)

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

Bad Religion, Hives, I think QOTSA is going to put out a new album this year

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

i thought QOTSA died?
and the news of the re-releasing of how strange innocence (EITS) and 'Smile' has made these my most anticipated, along with mars volta...and mono, sonic youth and HOTS, as amazon hasn't delivered the fuckers yet, even though i ordered them 13 days ago. i hate 'supersaver' bullshit, yet i can't afford to.

Re: Most Anticipated Albums of the year

i guess its not new but i'd very much be happy with the coming My bloody valentine box set and dvd!
