Keep it simple, band name, album name, album of 2006 so far.

Could become a bit of an essential list for us all to check out.

Mine, Band of Horses - Everything All The Time.

Mine

Band of Horses - Everything All The Time

SNAP!

Haven't heard many.

So I'll go with:

The Radio Dept. - Pet Grief

I love that album.

It's fantastic.
Shame it seems to've been overlooked quite a bit this year.

I haven't got it yet

I've been slack with record buying. Even if it's only half as good as Lesser Matters though I'll be well pleased.

Sigh

There are about four words in that last sentence that didn't need to be there.

be your own pet

be your own pet

Drum's Not Dead

Liars

Witch

Witch

Can I have several?

TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
Liars - Drum's Not Dead
Jeniferever - Choose a Bright Morning
Forward, Russia - Give Me A Wall

No

Make a decision man!

Aw, OK.

TV on the Radio.

Nope. Just one.

Greedy boy.

Robert Pollard - From A Compound Eye

Lords

This Ain't A Hate Thing, It's A Love Thing

like i said yesterday

tv on the radio - return to cookie mountain

Mole Harness - A Present From The Future

Morningwood

Morningwood

Amusement Parks on Fire

Out of the Angeles

but Jeniferever is great too.

Sika Redem - Entheogen

I can't choose just ONE...

...!!!

But Midlake and Band Of Horses and Aloha and Flaming Lips and Todd and Lords and Boris and Jeniferver and Mono and Russian Circles and Muse and Cortney Tidwell and An Albatross and The Paper Chase and Kaada and Cutting Pink and...

...all tie!

Metallic Falcons -

Metallic Falcons

ooh yes

i love this album (isn't it called Desert Doughnuts tho?)

my vote goes to Regina Spektor, however.

Ladyfuzz

Kerfuffle by Ladyfuzz. Until the Young knives album comes out properly

Sika Redem

It won't have changed in 5 months time. Nah-huh. You can keep your delicately crafted pop-tuned fine lyriced goodness and shove it. Give it up for those five blokeys from Coventry.

ace album

their guitarist Lewis is fit too.

Giant Drag

Hearts and Unicorns

Dannii Minogue - Best of.

seriously.

This is the vote for Best Album,

not best use of Jacques Villeneuve's love sausage.

heheheheheheh

Victory At Sea - All Your Things Are Gone.

Yeah, I quite like that album.

That, or Drums Not Dead (obvious but brilliant)

Mogwai - Mr Beast

I know its a shadow of their former glory but its still a really good album

hot chip - the warning

just edges out the f.lips and twilight singers, although i've yet to hear adem's new one.
downloading band of horses now, as this has made me curious.

bollocks, forgot my latest novel.

can't pick just one

Thomas Stronen

Pohlitz

by the way Mr Diver

Really good review of the Band Of Horses album in Rock Sound.
</arselicking>

not sure

i've only bought about 3 new albums this year, i've been working on my back catalogue mainly. 'give me a wall' was very good, but not good enough to be elevated to album of the year so far i think. hmm. let me go home and inspect my cd collection, i may have a better answer for you.

^ word

The Black Angels

Passover

dirty pretty things

only joking!

Probably TV on the Radio, though its not as amazing as I thought it would be.

iLiKETRAiNS

Progress reform.
TV on the Radio comes in a close second though

likewise, I've only

bought a few new albums released this year. Most of the others are oldies. At the moment though, The Drips self-titled album is probably the best thing I've heard this year. Although the promo copy I have of the new Winnebago Deal album is pretty special.

one of

The Eraser, Black Holes And Revelations, or Making Dens

Pedant

iLT is a mini-album, but a damn fine one at that!

best mini-album of the year!

The Pipettes - We are The Pipettes

Been a good year so far...

Witch - Witch

Liars - Drums Not Dead

Aphex - Chosen Lords

Boris - Pink

Ghostface - Fishscale

That INVADERS hipster metal compilation

Jesu - Silver

Boss Money Gangsters - Consignment

Blaq Poet - Deja Screw

Jesu

Is close for me too, definitely up there.

Forward Russia - Give Me A Wall

Silent Shout is runner-up.

My Top 10 for the year...

1. Morning Runner - Wilderness Is Paradise Now

2. The Open - Statues

3. Asobi Seksu - Citrus

4. Muse - Black Holes And Revelations

5. The Radio Dept. - Pet Grief

6. Hope Of The States - Left

7. Embrace - This New Day

8. Gledhill - Constellations

9. Keane - Under The Iron Sea

10. Mohair - Small Talk

Phoenix and The Stills are worth a mention as well.

mission of burma

'The Obliterati'

It's been a poor year for albums.

I don't think I own one from this year. Actually Ant - footprints through the snow. Or Darren Hayman - Table For One (though was dissapointing a little.)

Sounds Fluorescent Green

I think Ten Silver Drops by the Secret Machines is awesome. I am looking forward to seeing how Autolux, Midnight Movies, and the Favourite Sons debut fare in the coming months.

TV On The Radio

all the way

How fucking good is this?

Got it after hearing so many people rave about it on DiS.

I love you all...

yes

you should check out my review, its brilliant

Broken Family Band - Balls

*ducks*

Sika Redem - Entheogen. Brilliant, brilliant album. CLosely followed by Immune's 1/f.

:)

can't decide between

Gregor Samsa and Carla Bozulich.
ASk me later !

the new Carla Bozulich

is rather fucking sweet.

it scares me at night though.

yes

it does !

leopard leg / t.i.t.s.

is AMAZING. the shoplfting one too (if that came out this year)

albums of the year

tv on the radio- return to cookie mountain
jeniferever- choose a bright morning
beirut-gulag orkestar
the dfa-remixes chapter 1
hot chip- the warning

not a bad selection at all. :)

hot chip - the warning
iliketrains - progress reform
grandaddy - just like the fambly cat
my latest novel - wolves
mogwai - mr. beast

well I wasn't going to but

Burial
TV On The Radio
Liars
Mogwai
Boris !!!!!!! the one if I had to choose.
AFX

I am still on that, kinda on the cusp type thing with The Knife, don 't know I like it but it sounds a bit like Roxette dunnit?

someone else here who has heard it!

Wholeheartedly second the Burial album. Distant Lights is incredible.

well

i got mine at their ladyfest cardiff noise workshop (lolz) which was awesome. theyre selling at shows at least i think. theyre well worth seeing and are spliting up in october :(

who, leopard leg?

BUGGER.

that's ultra gay and it's ruined my year.

yeah

though they say it doesnt matter as they will be forming "ELEVEN NEW BANDS". so there is probably a chance that at least one of them will be awesome.

they'd better be.

i'm actually upset now, i missed the show they played with TITS for Argentina vs Holland.

theyre playing at

somewhere in whitechapel soon and theres going to be at least a gig in brighton aswell as one of the xbxrx shows in london. glee.

A Whisper in the Noise

As the Bluebird Sings

keep it going!

and stop it you greedy people with top ten lists.

One band, one album

metric - live it out

out monday. ^ JAG, etc... ^

Secret Machines

'Ten Silver Drops'

In no paticular order

Tilly And The Wall - Bottom Of Barrels
Regina Spektor - Begin To Hope
Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out Of This Country
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
Belle & Sebastien - The Life Pursuit
Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds
Thom Yorke - The Eraser
Muse - Black Holes & Revelations
Howling Bells - Howling Bells
The Most Serene Republic - Underwater Cinematographer
Band Of Horses - Everthing All The Time

How indecisive am I?

David Sneddon

Howling Bells

No contest whatsoever.

hmm

strikes me as a very good collection of singles rather than an album of the year.

its good the howling bells

just not a patch on tv on the radio, jeniferever, xiu xiu, beirut etc. ooh and the walkmen, that was good.

Band of Horses

EATT just misses a 'classic' tag.

Built to Spill's You in Reverse snags an honorable mention.

Under Byen!

"Under Byen - Samme Stof Som Stof" is almost a masterpiece and the the best album of the year so far.. That's my opinion...
