Drowned in Sound, in association with De-Milo Music, presents another evening of ear-shattering, brain-tickling, hip-swinging entertainment...

Playing live for your delight this month are:

ART OF BURNING WATER
These guys do not fuck around! Some guy from some other great band was moved to remark "They know how to rip it up!" No shit. This ain't heavy, brother; it's cataclysmic. It's progressive rock without the wank (the emphasis is on the ROCK here, kids). Think Melvins, Neurosis, war, death, destruction... basically they rock so much harder than you do.

RED STARS PARADE
These guys also know how to rip it up, only in a slightly different way. This is powerful progressive hardcore, like Pelican making whoopee with Cult Of Luna. Sludge-sex-death-FUN!
Wanna hear something? Fair enough!

PLUS! PLUS! PLUS!

Extra, extra special guests to be announced sometime between NOW and THEN. We could give you a clue, but that'd spoil our fun....

OH OKAY ALREADY! It's RAMESSES, who just happen to feature former members of the fucking "ace on toast" (to quote Mr Mat Hocking, DiS metal mutha) Electric Wizard (who released tres rocking records on Rise Above, home to Cathedral, Orange Goblin etc). GET IN! Egyptian-industrial-noise? Damn straight! Louder than my ass after an egg, beans and black pudding omelette? Hell yeah! They're coming up from Dorset especially to slay you. Yes, you. So be there. A fourth band will complete the bill, one of our very favourites... any guesses? Anyone...?

Oh, and there will be the (un)usual DJ action from Chris and Mike (that's me! I take requests but only with offers of beer). Expect a mix of toe-tapping beats and butt-busting sludge. And maybe some country and western.

Doors open at 8 this time, so get in early!

Here's everything you need to know:
WHAT? NONE MORE ROCK #3
WHERE? Upstairs at the Garage, Holloway Road, London
(nearest tube = Highbury and Islington, Victoria Line)
WHEN? THIS Friday, 28th May. The fun starts at 8pm, and ends when we say so.
HOW? Much? Well, how much d'ya wanna give us? A fiver I'd reckon.

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

YES! YES! YES! - Bring tha rock, mo'fo!

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

can i make one suggestion after last month?

don't book bum snogger and emotive exposed again they drove all the girls to hide in the toilet for the evening and then half the men stood in the corridor outside the toilets so they could talk to the girls.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Well... the whole line-up WAS meant to be a heck of a lot different last month with Future Ex-Wife and Blood Valley but they had to pull out.

What's the matter? Can't handle the rock?

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Anyone found loitering with the bands out back will be forced to buy me beer.

If they've no cash they'll just have to WORK for it, be they man, woman, or beast.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

oh dear. i think you told me off last month then.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

I may have done.
Sorry.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

apology accepted.

to be fair i think i just ignored you, carried on drinking and then stole all of bumsnoggers stickers.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

oh i can handle the rock sonny!
but it was all a bit tiring. i don't like watching 40 year old men with tits stand infront of the stage, backs to the audience shouting back at the rest of their band. its boring.

plus bumsnogger wouldn't make friends with us.

we will be pilots were of course brill.

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

is the les savy fav picture to do with the special guest part then?
or just selected for inherent 'none more rock' value?

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...????
you'll have to wait n see!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

haha, well i'll have to wait til the next day for someone to tell me then i reckon cos i'd only consider the arduous trip to london town for LSF!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Alas, LSF will not be appearing.
I just put up the most ROCK picture I could find.
BUT, I will play something off Inches at least.
Probably 'We'll Make A Lover Of You'.
Maybe.

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

I was getting all excited about LSV, until I realised I knew who the extra band was. And it wasn't LSV. Doh!

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

i'm so there.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

good man!
it just got better btw...

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

bumsnogger and emotive exposed slayed. it was that other band that was weak as fuck!!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

oh dear i think we'll have to agree to disagree then. old men bellowing about their shit lives is not my idea of fun.

plus there was a rumour of nazi salutes in bumsnogger's set which although unconfirmed is a little worrying.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Don't be silly.
But, whatever... this month is going to be SO much better.
Ramesses are gonna slay.
Art of Burning Water are gonna destroy.
The others... well, they'll do whatever they do.
GET IN.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

oh i know. i'm sure it was a load of rubbish and to be honest i was drinking rum in the loo so i wouldn't know.

but will it be suitable for girls? i found it all a bit scary and intimidating last month.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

For girls that like to rock? Oh yes.
Ramesses and Art of Burning Water will be heavy, granted, but they won't steal your sweets or eat your cat or anything.
Maybe your dog...

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Will it be suitable for girls? Ok, well addressing some of your concerns regarding last month's selection, there'll be less hair, beer bellies and growls. It's more about the progressive heavy stuff I guess... lots of intricate riffwork and mind-mangling catharsis. in fact, Art Of aren't particularly heavy - they just rock my ass clean off every time I see them!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

True.
I have seen it wandering down Upper Street on its own.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Upper Street eh? Sly little thing!

Just read this from their website:

"It's great to have the freedom to sound like Queens of The Stone Age or Sleep one minute and Burning Witch the next. But with our track record you expect some fucked up organic, thick, atmospheric, heavy, futuristic drone sounds..."

Pretty much spot on if you ask me.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

That's Ramesses, by the way!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

i am veryveryvery much looking forward to seeing art of burning water! i like what i've heard from them.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Me too.
Oh yeah!
Problem is I've gotta leave early to get a train to Tonbridge!
SUCKS.

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

red stars parade are the next isis. you mark my words. fookin ace band!!

and cheers to mike and mat for having us. we had fun clearing the room, cus, as manowar say, "fakes and posers, leave the room!"

angelac: please don't make up rumours about us and "nazi salutes!". thats downright malicious and untrue.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

i apologise unreservedly. but i didn't make it up its just what a few people were saying in the audience but they obviously were just drunk troublemakers.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

The next Isis? Seriously?
I expect to be impressed!
I have a whole load of quality records on me, oh yeah!
Including Isis, actually.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Mike, I've heard an advance track from Red Stars' album and believe me they are serious contenders! Just because Isis are from the U S of gay doesn't mean they are automatically superior (a common misconception amongst certain punk & HC circles).

I cannot fooking wait!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Dang straight!
I am SO looking forward to tonight.

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

DAMN ME AND MY INABILITY TO PROCURE COMPANY

None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Last night was definately one of the best gigs of the year so far, without a doubt!

I had ten shades of ROCK knocked out of me during Art of Burning Water's set, and as for Red Stars Parade! Well roger me with a shovel and call me sylvia they were magnificent! Anyone + everyone, go see these guys! I can still feel the rumbling guitar chugs bubbling through my arteries and making my legs go all wobbly and stuff. Fan-blimmin'-tastic!

But Ramesses! Wowsers! A perfect sludge-ridden end to the evening these guys know how to reel you in and hypnotise you with their evil stoner-doom mantra and arse-rattling riffs!

I don't know we do it y'know!

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

it was indeed a wonderful gig. i have since fallen in Luff with red stars parade. Luff, i tell thee. art of burning water were also somewhat magnificent, and birds of paradise were suitably odd and brilliant. i wasn't sold on ramesses at all though :\

Re: None More Rock #3 - 28/05/04

Were you there? I didn't see you. If I had I'd have said hi.

Then again, I didn't see much at all.
