Sorry, but using "arrogance" and "ignorance" in the context that you've used these words doesn't make any sense whatsoEver; this nonsensical grammar, coming from a 28 year old, is very worrying indeed. In fact, I have been the polar opposite of ignorance. I expressed a view (which, as a matter of fact, is a widely acknowledged view). You disagree with it - fair enough.

A bit of personal experience here. Before I begin, I'm not clear on which World Cup this actually was, but it was when England failed to qualify for the World Cup and Scotland did instead. This is the root of my argument; we were in England at the time, watching the football in a pub. The people in the pub, having seen this happen, came out with a disgusting comment :-

"Scotland are a poor representation of the UK"

I'm not bitter about Scotland being shite; I accept Scotland are shite, and I can't see the situation changing for quite some time. I've already appreciated the fact that they're shite, so for people replying and saying "haha, Scotland are shite" are merely stating the obvious.

Let me say again - I am NOT anti-English. I am "anti" the following things :-

1) the self-proclaimed "greatness" of the English side from "some" of the supporters. Be realistic; can you HONESTLY say that England have a real chance of resurrecting former glories such as...well, 1966?

2) the general violent conduct of "some" of the English supporters - a great deal of them are expressing it quite well through this thread. The more idiotic amongst them express it through fighting; Scotland, Ireland and Wales do not have the same crowd problems as England do. And it pisses me off, as it gives the UK as a whole, not just England, a bad name.

I wish England the best of luck; that defeat by France has "hopefully" restored their egos to a more reasonable size, and they should have no problem against Switzerland and Croatia. As for the rest....well, we just have to watch this space.

Finally, apologies to the handful of people who I have undoubtedly offended (in several ways). Here's to a great Euro 2004.
