Polaris nominees announced: Metric, BSS, Wolf Parade and more...

The nominees have been announced for the Polaris Music Prize, the new Canadian music award we previously reported on here.
The prize is the Canadian equivalent of the UK's Mercury Music Prize, and will be contested by:
Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene
Cadence Weapon - Breaking Kayfabe
The Deadly Snakes - Porcella
Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds
Sarah Harmer - I'm a Mountain
K'naan - The Dusty Foot Philosopher
Malajube - Trompe L'Oeil
Metric (pictured) - Live It Out
The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
The shortlist is the result of the votes of some 120 judges. The winners - who will be announced at a ceremony at Toronto's Phoenix Theatre on September 18 - will receive $20,000.
Which is nice.

Stars album should be up there...perhaps at the expense of either Metric or Wolf Parade. For me it's slightly better than those two.
