New album news part IV: LEMONHEADS
Posted: 07 Jul '06, 12:56
I think we'll call it quits at four. We've already gone beyond the classic trilogy format...
But anyway, The Lemonheads' eighth album, and first for Vagrant, will be released on September 25. A self-titled affair, the album is the band's first for ten years.
Evan Dando, pictured, has worked with Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendents) and Karl Alvarez (Descendents) on the LP. Dando said:
"You should listen to the Descendents' Milo Goes to College to get an idea of what the next Lemonheads record sounds like. I wanted to make a rock record, a melodic rock record. Also, I'm sick of selling solo t-shirts."
Due to play Somerset House, London, like SOON, The Lemonheads' The Lemonheads track listing looks like this:
'Black Gown'
'Become The Enemy'
'Pittsburgh'
'Let's Just Laugh'
'Poughkeepsie'
'Rule of Three'
'No Backbone'
'Baby's Home'
'In Passing'
'Steve's Boy'
'December'

hooray!
I am unfeasibly excited.
-
Wooooooooo
Stevenson = drummer extraordinaire
Alvarez = ace bass player
Dando = geniusThis will be very good indeed.
-
Is that
this record and Sparklehorse within a week of each other? That's a good week!
-
INDEED
Alvarez is playing with Gogol Bordello at the mo. This will be infinitely better.
-
Too Fucking
Right! I'll be at the front a week on Sunday!

My friend's doing comedy
at that Latitude Festival and she's got me a backstage pass so I could meet Dando. I can't go though. No money=no fun. Am quite miffed. My band were meant to support him solo in Cardiff once but we had to pull out because my entire group had turned into cunts.

aaawesome...
milo goes to college = top record.
dando = top guy.looking forward to this. and the blood brothers. such excitement makes friday afternoons worthwhile.
-
i saw
him solo at the welsh club in cardiff in 2003....he was fucking ace

-
Panic
That would be funny if the Douglas Adams joke hadn't already been wrecked with Scary Movie 4's slogan of the same thing.
-
Oh yes
-
Give up
I was into the Lemonheads back in the day (when I were a lad),they were good until "come on feel..." then they went boring. Whatever happened to Ben Deilly?(cue tons of smart arses telling me what he did next...)
-
thats what happend when you hate your friends
ben formed a band called 'pods' and released a 7" ep entitled "it's a bummer about bourbie" as a cheap shot at his old pal
the title track is actually really good - although it's laced with bitter & twisted undertones about his now mega-star mate
and after a few years in exile, he's just got round to releasing a cd by his new band "varsity drag"
agree with you about "c'mon feel" by the way ... luckily tom morgan filled the gaps from there and produced a stack of great stuff with smudge/sneeze and now the givegoods
