Martin embraces the gift of giving

Artists: Coldplay, Embrace
Fresh from helping out R&B starlet Jamelia, Chris Martin has put his songwriting skills to work on behalf of Yorkshire long-time-no-see indie rockers Embrace.

Okay, so he didn't write for them, specifically. A song penned by Martin, 'Gravity' apparently sounded just like an Embrace song, so the Coldplay frontman, being the nice chap that he is, just gave it to the band! Simple as that. Well, that's what I've been led to believe; word is that a certain Danny McNamara may have helped all along... does anyone know for sure? Does anyone actually care?

Regardless of who wrote it, the track will appear on Embrace's next album, due out in September.

Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

Embrace's first album was superb, second album was good, and then they went off-the-scale into decline. The third album was sick. I bought it on reputation, sold it on Tuesday

Re: Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

they have that many albums? three?!?
which one was all you good good people on?

Re: Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

It was on the first album. Danny sang flat on them all though...

Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

I think Drawn From Memory was their classic. High hopes for this record, they were one of the best 'post-Britpop' (cough) bands and don't deserve obscurity.

Re: Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

Ditto on Drawn From Memory. They've always been slightly unfairly maligned in my view.

Re: Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

Eh?

Is this Emrace we're talking about
or The Only Ones?
or Jay-Z?
or Bluetones?

Embrace are malignant, not maligned.

yes, i wouldn't want to happen to you and hooligan are great

Re: Martin Embraces the Gift of Giving

I quite liked the single version of i wouldnt wanna happen to you. But the album version sounded like the carpenters. In a bad way.

I didn't really think the second album was all that good. Loved the b-sides on the EPs from the first album though...

Quote:
"Embrace have always taken the organic approach to songwriting. They believe in writing what comes naturally. And what comes naturally are songs that are life affirming, heartfelt and all embracing. "

fair enough. but it's written by Chris Martin!!!
I have no problem with it but an awful lot of people will.

Martin embraces the gift of giving

Everyone now...

1,2,3...

"Oooooooh....!"

Followed by an "Awed Silence."

Who cares?!

He called his kid Apple. Everything else is irrelevant.

Kidding.
