My favourite Australian band is The Cat Empire.
But I have so many Aussie bands that I love.
Went to the Manifold Festival on Saturday - 30 local Brisbane bands playing on 3 stages over 12 hours at the Waterloo Hotel. Was pleasantly surprised...

We have such a different style. A lots mroe of our music is laid back, whihc I haven't found in other countries. We're a lot more relaxed, and mellow.
I mean, we have our political musicians (John Butler Trio & The Living End jump immediately to mind) but they're still mellow. Especially JBT.
I never used to be a big fan of the local music scene until I joined a band myself about 5 years ago. It really opened my eyes to what Australian musicians are doing, what they play, and how much talent there is out there. Which is why it astounds me why they struggle to make it on an international front. Which really is a shame... You guys just don't know what your missing...
And then we get shit bands like Jet or Vanlusterbader who have moderate success overseas & they're just shite. Total, utter shite. *sighs* If I had it my way...
