Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Anyone else LOVE this film?

I watched it for what must be the 30th time this weekend and it still keeps me hooked.

It's plays pretty much exactly as the book was written.

God Bless Hunter S. Tompsom

th's very good, and some of the more hilarious bits are some of the funniest things ive ever seen.
it is a bit repetative though

im a fan of this film, the book is good too.
even though its funny it is still dealing with a touchey subject and showing the effects of drugs in a serious/realistic way.

Yes, haha, I do like that film. I haven't read the book yet, but it's on my list right after 'Last Exit to Brooklyn'.

im avid fan of Gilliam, and only the other day i found myself drawn to watching fear and loathing. Normally i rate Twelve Monkeys as a better film, but watching it again i realised that fear and loathing is more than a film, it's a spirit. Something that's inside of everyone regardless of their nationality, wether they know it or not. Above all though, it's a very sad story about how one man tried to chase that spirit. I think Depp will find it hard to better the scene in the cafeteria where he shows some real humanity in the film. Anyone else think that scene is one of the best, without being funny?

The film was pretty fantastic if only because it manages to evoke the spirit and look of Ralph Steadman's illustrations.

The book's good (natch) but bettered by the 'follow up' Fear And Loathing On The Campaign Trail 72. HST blags the Rolling Stone ticket to the Nixon vs McGovern presidential campaign. Not only hilarious in places thanks to Dr Thompson's manic nature but a rollicking insight into the USA's political system. It goes all the way from Primaries to the post-election comedown when McGovern (who HST openly supports the whole way through) loses.

If you only ever read one politics book it really should be this rather than Michael Moore's latest...

Not seen the film, purely cos I want to read the book first. Bought it a few months ago for bargainous three quid, along with a thousand other cheapo books. Its in my to read list, maybe I should send it straight to the front of the queue

You should...anyway it's short and a really quick read
