Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Ryan Adams: heart Ryan Adams last week made his first public appearance since mangling his wrist at a Liverpool gig early this year.

The cult singer/songwriter appeared during the encore of a Gillian Welch and David Rawlings concert in New York. He duetted with Welch on a version of his own ‘To Be Young (is to be sad is to be high)’, and then followed it up with a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Helpless’.

He was also playing guitar, helping to allay fears that his injury would hinder him in the future. Adams is set to make his ‘real’ comeback at the Austin City Limits festival in September.

Following that, it is rumoured that he will return to the UK for a brief November tour on the 12-14th , covering London, Manchester and Liverpool, but those dates are yet to be confirmed.

Last month Adams saw the combined release of his two ‘Love Is Hell’ EPs as one album, as he’d originally intended.

    fantastic news!
  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

i dont hate the guy but isn't he a tad over rated?
if he didn't hang with stars and wear suits and stuff, would he really belong on here?
and surely we've all heard wonderwall enough now.
    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

      ............just a thought.
      • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

seconded. He's GOOD but No one is as good as everybody seems to make out Adams is... Some of his songs are quite boring, just because there's lots of them doesn't mean he deserves sucking off
    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

There are many other songs on Love is hell other than wonderwall. Just skip that one if you're bored of it.

He belongs on here or anywhere just as much as anyone. In my opinion, He's one of the finest musicians around. And wearing a suit now means you are not allowed recognition does it? or hanging with "stars". so what?
      • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

        I think he's brilliant...

"Everything I do....I do it for you..."

        Timeless...
        • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Come on... Jonathan Ross did that more stylish than you.
          • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

..but I pronounced all the Ws properly...
            • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

there were no Ws in your post.
              • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

There was an 'r' that Ross would have pronounced as a 'w'.
                • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

                  Bwilliant? No R's?

                  What does DNA stand for?

  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Ryan Adams used to be great in Whiskeytown before he sold his soul and started doing fucking STROKES covers and hanging with Courtney and Winona, the Judas...
    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

      Your post reads

"he was brilliant when nobody had heard of him, (even though the music was inferior). Now that he has gained notoriety, he's rubbish"

*in the near distance, a siren can be heard...someone has sounded the indie snob alarm, I fear*
      • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

        Snobbery and counter snobbery! Touche!
  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

If only he'd replay Bristol too...
  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Yay. More for the combination of the Love is Hell EPs (finally!) than for the thought of dear ol' Ryan playing again.
    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Does anyone know whether he'll be working with Mel C again any time soon?

      "Baby when your gone!"

      Classic....
  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

He looks like Edward Scissorhands too. All except the scar on the face...and perhaps the scissors for hands.
      • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

        He's my favourite...

        "...in the summer of '69..."

I'll never get bored of the good shit....

      • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

I think it is YOU who are boring. What's up, did mummy run over your trike? I think you just can't handle the fact that me 'n' Bryan are buds and he thinks you're a dick.

"The only thing that looks good on me....is YOU!"

        Wooooh! I can't control it!
  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Whoever says Ryan Adams is overrated, go and listen to Heartbreaker a few times. That is arguably the greatest piece of heartache music ever recorded and we are lucky to have it.

Fuck yeah about him touring London -- I'll go to all three gigs (*pats his three Ryan Adams t-shirts comfortingly and decides how best to bum money off his mates for travel*)
  • Ryan Adams returns to the stage

I agree, but listen to pneumonia first and love is hell afterwards and the talent shines through that much brighter.
    • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

Oh! R-Y-A-N Adams. I feel a bit silly now!

      Never fuckin' heard of him....
      • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

watch it!!! or i'll tell your dad.
        • Re: Ryan Adams returns to the stage

          Ryan Adams is brilliant.
  • yes he is..

ryan adams is indeed overrated. im not trying to brag, but ive been listening to almost everything for years when it comes to music..and i never heard this guys name. (i mean i know bryan adams, and im sure ryan adams knew that while making up his performing name while becoming a musician, great way to become famous, he might as well go on american idol and be famous for not writing any of his own music and for just having a good voice {damn those who support any good singer who won american idol, i refuse to call them musicians cuz they're not) anyway..i was reading a rolling stone and out of nowhere theres an article on ryan adams and he's at some grammy award party. i was like who the hell is this dude? im not dissing his music, ive actually never heard it before, im just agreeing with those who believe he is overrated. and again, i think the only reason he's so famous is because his name sounds like bryan adams, if his name was bill winston, he'd be nothing. that and he is full of himself...you can tell by his face, i hate people that are full of themselves and arent even that great.

sorry if i pissed anyone off, but bryan adams..oops i mean ryan adams pisses me off
