ANACHOIC REFLECTION is a metal band reinventing old-school guitar playing. This 4-piece is here to put the ‘heavy’ back in heavy metal! ~AR~, as they are also known, has been playing gigs across East Anglia since 2001 and recently won the prestigious Red Stripe 2004 Cambridge Band Competition. The make-up of ~AR~’s sound mixes both heavy guitar drives with hard-hitting slap bass grooves, and gruelling drumbeats alongside an energetic and passionate stage presence. Influential to the ~AR~ sound is: Primus, Metallica, Dream Theatre, Mr. Bungle and Pantera. ~AR~ was brought together in September 2000. After a year of writing material they were ready to start gigging. Their first ever gig was at The Man on the Moon in Cambridge on 26th January 2001. Their EP “Reverse” was recorded in 2003. Since then the band has played all over East Anglia, and more recently at London’s prestigious venue The Garage (downstairs) in Highbury. ~AR~ has had several interviews, some local radio airplay and has been featured in Explorer Magazine. ‘Ass kicking heavy metal group with unlimited amounts of energy!’ bbc.co.uk
