Formed in glasgow in the mid 80's as a bunch of psychedelic rockers, they discovered acid, ectasy and samplers at the smae time; producing some of the the most influential and innovative of UK house and techno in the aftermath of the late 80's acid house boom, with the superlative "En-tact". However when bassist Will Sinnot died and Guitarist Colin Angus was effectively a one man band, the infamous rapper / Dj / technohead Mr C. joined to bolster the ranks and made the "Boss Drum" album, which was but a pale photocopy of "En-tact", but included a collaboration with Terence MckEnna and also did contain "Ebeneezer goode", which was to destroy their credibility in one fell swoop and won them an ivor Novello award. In the public eyes were branded a novelty house act, who could never regain the commerical and critical ground they lost; and carried on making decreasingly successful records. In 1998, fed up with the real world, they digitisied themselves as "Shamenogotchis" and now exist only as virtual avatars. Nutters.
