Gravenhurst

Gravenhurst

Signed to label: Warp Records

Gravenhurst was formed from the ashes of Bristol's much cherished Assembly Communications, a cult act cut down in their prime following the death of bass player Luke Gale. Gravenhurst is perhaps best described as a neo-folk act, with influences including but not limited to Nick Drake, Red House Painters and Low, and like all self-respecting indie bands of their generation, they exhibit more than a passing nod in the direction of Slint and Joy Division. Gravenhurst revolves around writer/arranger Nick Talbot, with contributions from other musicians. The following have, or are currently, playing in the band: Simon Grant (The Signal), Chris McCartney (Assembly Communications), Dave Collingwood (The Signal, Immense). Nick's brother Sean has now joined on bass guitar. Sean makes mechanoid pursuit-core music under the Landslide Purist moniker.
