Earlimart

Signed to label: Palm Pictures

Earlimart is the brainchild of producer Aaron Espinoza and is centred on his Ship Studios complex in Eagle Rock, Ca. The Ship is a burgeoning co-operative of musicians, film makers and artists that has also undertaken production work for and with The Breeders, Elliot Smith and The New Folk Implosion to name but a few.

The original incarnation of Earlimart were known on the West Coast for their heavily distorted post punk sound and riotous shows, where all the equipment generally left the stage before the end of the show. Taking advantage of, and inspiration from, the collapse of the first incarnation of the band, Espinoza has developed this sound on "Everyone Down Here" to encompass a more introspective and orchestral collection of songs. However. the old fury still surfaces on such tracks as "We Drink On The Job" and "Susan’s Husband Gunshop" in bursts of adrenaline fuelled buzz pop. Throughout the LP, the twisted take on the small town lives of the USA that was Espinoza’s home before his move to the metropolis of LA create a world of lost friends, strange encounters and intellectual isolation whilst still seeing a brighter tomorrow.
