The Sailplanes

The Sailplanes are :

  • Stacey Hine – Vocals, Guitar
  • Tim Webster – Vocals, Guitar
  • Yola - Drums

Having toiled separately in lesser groups for some time, noise guitarist Tim and songwriter Stacey formed The Sailplanes in early 2005 through a mutual interest in bands such as Electrelane, Sonic Youth and Sleater-Kinney. They write songs that aim to strip arty rock to it's basic components. Bass-less and brisk, The Sailplanes are a breath of fresh air.

"Taut, unsettling, unusually cinematic art-rock that conjures up black and white dreams of knife-wielding girls and breathless chases down narrow streets in some romantic old European capital." – GIITTV Zine

"an articulate disaffection and anger that is matched perfectly by the calm yet frantic music that perfectly balances noise and melody, beauty and self-destruction." – Ian Viggars for Joyzine

    They've a website and a myspace.
