Jim Noir, it would seem, is the name of a) the man behind the songs; and b) his band in general. This is one difference between Noir and someone like Robbie Williams you see; you'd never catch Robbie's guitarist saying, we are/we were/this is, Robbie Willams, but that's exactly how Noir and his crew roll, and they're all the better for it.
Five charming mancunians they are, Jim Noir the man is the leader, who himself seems to have one main promotional photo where he's decked out like Doherty and looks like a thirty-five year old man; but in real life, he's a fit as fuck twenty-something mate.
His songs are good too. He seems to be the new darling of the advertising world appearing on Adidas and BBC adverts regularly, his two most famous lyrical ditty's "if you ever step on my patch, i'll bring you down" from My Patch and "if you don't give my football back i'm gonna get my dad on you" from Eanie Meanie (both from his solitary LP Tower Of Love) are infiltrating the nation's minds lke two very pleasant pieces of quaint indoctrination. They are charming, childlike, electro-indie popster for sure, highly reminiscent of The Beta Band, The Beach Boys, The Super Furry Animals; and he and his music are exceptionally loveable. Their live show involves a dense gnome population on stage and they, and the crowd, were just bloody loving it.
Recomended for anyone who takes pleasure in finely crafted pop songs with a hit of fun and northern charm.
