Leon

When Leon sold the thousandth copy of their demo CD “Don’t Feed the Animals” (described by NME as “like Blur at their most lo-fi/good attitude”) they decided to continue on their own label - Freezer Recordings - and record a self-financed album.

Twelve months later, after three car crashes en route to the studio, one stolen computer (containing all the demos for the album), two broken limbs, and one enforced studio relocation (engineer / producer John Paul Braddock’s home studio was next door to an entire family from granny to twelve year old daughter dealing crack) the aptly titled album “Upper and Downers” is finished.

A collection of twisted love songs, “Uppers and Downers” deals mainly with the pros and cons of sex and death. Fusing the best of old and new sounds, Hammond organ to home grown electronica, the album never loses the most important ingredient - infectious tunes
