Edie Brickell was born in Dallas. In the late 1980s Brickell, a folk singer, joined the New Bohemians and had a very successful debut album in 1988 ‘Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars. The band's follow-up album, ‘Ghost of a Dog (1990), was less successful and Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians disbanded. As a solo artist, Brickell released ‘Picture Perfect Morning' (1994) and, after a long leave, ‘Volcano (2003)'. In 2006 she reunited with some of the original members of the New Bohemians and they released the album ‘Stranger Things'.
Brickell married songwriter Paul Simon in 1992. They have three children.
