What bugs are the biggest annoyance?
What features would make things better?
Not that the forum's suffering too much actually but there have been a couple of troll posts or requests for particular posts to be deleted on the grounds of sensitive information.
I think barring maybe still doesn't work even if it was possible to run, unless you barred C0C0 after his big trolly post yesterday?
Aside from that:
- Threads don't seem to break often and at least they do snap back, but it would be nice if they never did.
- Posts sometimes just don't show up and CTRL+F5 seems to do nothing until after another post has been made. This is annoying.
- Logging in still has a few bugbears. I think it's something to do with conflicting cookies as a reboot of the browser generally fixes it.
- When you log in you go to a session page. This is irritating as you lose your current place.

- Why can't we just have the AJAX stuff back like it used to be where you post and then it appears in the thread or where you log in and you're logged in, rather than having the site reload the page each time. Surely this will cut server load.
Okay, so people could miss replies but I think that system was preferable to reload-a-rama we have now.
...the mobile version still doesn't redirect when you post a reply and doesn't let you post a new topic but it's not really important. Stick it on the to-do list for 2011. :D)
The posts not showing up thing - is this after you post, or after somebody else does?
The logging in thing is *always* a tricky one. Lots and lots of tricks to keep the site fast, but there's always niggles with different browsers. Getting to the bottom of lots of it though,
I'll blitz it tonight.
Is it good / useful apart from the reply thang?
I only use it at work to hide that I'm on the site when I shouldn't be...
I think it worked on my phone from what I remember. The main issues with it is the threads make no sense. They say @xxxx but those aren't links on that page so you can't tell which reply they're at and have to drop to normal view to see that.
What might be best (given the links wouldn't likely work well in a phone) is maybe a number against each post and then the @xxx with (post n) after it?
That's really the main downside as after posting I just click back 2 (and refresh for the same thread) or 3 times for the forum.
My feeling is that if you're going to use AJAX then use it a lot. Otherwise you may as well have the reply link redirect to a page that shows the post you're replying to and has a reply box, much like with notes.
AJAX should mean you can login midway through posting a thread and also that you don't need to leave the page you're on. The posting thing would be cool too.
That will help on mobile devices too.
What about deleting? So far as I know that's still not working, unless you fixed it today?
Testing without a title...
Then 'reply' again, it should be clear for entry.
Not ideal, but saves going out of the thread and then returning.
still annoying, but a bit quicker
no title fo' sho'
but the news scroll a the top of the forum pages has REALLY slowed everything down.
It's not so bad on my desktop (I use Camino on Intel Mac), but on my iPhone it is actually getting to the point where I'm thinking about not coming here (which is a real shame because DiS and metacritic are the only sites I tend to go to during my commute): the page is incredibly sluggish and unresponsive when it comes to clicking links or scrolling up/down/sideways on the page. Also, pages take FOREVER to load (on iPhone) -- because of a snail-like ad server perhaps?
but something like an icon that lights up when someone has replied directly to one of your posts would be cool. and then clicking it would take you to the reply. kinda like how reddit does it. yeah.
I'll see if I can take it off for iPhones...
at the same time as listening. on a not too old pc.
Lots of people seem to be replying to the thread but it coming up under the last poster's.
Someone posts, you see there name as the last post, you click last post and it goes to nothing.
I got lost three times on the way here.
Replies aren't showing up for ages, the board keeps freezing and not showing new replies for me (it lasts about ten minutes unless I close my browser and re-open it) threads keep smashing up again all the time.
the site goes mental with 400 - bad request.
and sticky the thread for this week
if i have more than ~10 tabs of DiS open (in any browser) it uses about 50% of my CPU. and that's with flash off.
All my sent notes are marked up as unread...
even when they've been replied to.
When I log in at work...
I can log in, I can ^ posts, I can abandon posts, but when I press the 'Post reply' button it is completely inert and doesn't work.
I just posted a comment on the music board and after pressing Post Reply I had to wait over two minutes for the refresh to commence and a further minute and a half for it to finish.
It's rather bloody irritating.
Where's it gone!? In days of old that was a key feature to my DiS experience.
Small thing in the side margin with Album covers, in a rectangle of recent reviews, ordered by review rating.
These are the kind of things that please me on a website such as this, everything i want to read about, neatly together in an accessible area.
I hoped and longed for it to return, and yet, no luck.
Has it been relocated? Definitely not dead weight on the side of an album review, more an opportunity for further reading. Bring it back? Or guide me to an alternative... Pretty please.
With a cherry on top?
Not sure if this is a Firefox issue or what, but that's what I'm using, v. 16.0.2 - I'm unable to edit or add tags to a thread. I can search and see the pulldown list of suggestions but I can't actually use them.
Also, I know Lists is still in beta but I can't do a thing with it, where I see other users have nice collections already done. It just breaks when I try to search for something to add.
good work everyone!
Trying to connect a user account to twitter results in a forever loop which firefox quits out of.
Profile sex isn't displayed, Location is restricted to UK or US (I'm Australian) and a problem exists with the twitter link, I can't do it.
