I'm sure anyone who's interested has seen it by now but.....holy cow!
but jesus christ, mental
Scott Walker is good at music.
but even more mental.
Sounds like it will be slightly easier to listen The Drift.
that resembled The Drift gone to carnival.
The voice just sounds 'stuck on'
but no different to his last two albums.
always a fine thing
I read the Wire review & it mentioned fart noises and a bit where he shouts 'DID YOU EVER THROW YOUR OWN MOTHER'S FOOD BACK AT HER?'
it sounds hilarious
He discusses how he chooses sounds that best complement his lyrics - the `slapping a dead cow` thing was meant to evoke the sound of a crowd beating the bodies of Mussolini and his lover after they were executed. Reading him explaining a 21-minute track on the new album is fucking mind-bending. Funny guy too. Well worth a read...
You'll have to go buy a copy. Awesome mag anyway.
I've been thinking of just working my way through his back catalogue in chronological order as it all seems so rich and varied. Does anybody have a better suggestion?
pick a favourite, probably be easier to suggest.
