Probably her best offering of this new direction?
She looks a bit grubby, like when Adam Lazarra decided he was Kurt Cobain for a bit.
It's just not a particularly listenable/good song. Her Welsh accent really comes through which isn't great either.
Incidentally, there's also a new Kate Nash album out this week, which is a bit 'riot grrl' apparently. Hmm.
I mean, she has the money to be able to do her own thing musically. She could have stuck at the pop stuff or choral guff, but she didn't
It's not an easy listen, and I cant really make out the lyrics on this live version. I'd be interested to hear the recorded version
is genuinely unlistenable in places. It's as though she has mistaken 'riot girl' for bawling like she's trapped her hand in a door.
I tried for a bit and it's decent in places, but a really bizarre album.
the other tracks on the EP/album whatever are crap tho.
....but something still feel wrong about it. I know her past career won't help but it just seems like a parody of people she may like.
Like others have said though, fair play to her.
Bit PJ Harveyish. Bit Bjorkish. Good voice.
and why the 2 drummers
Good use of space.
Way better than I was expecting. Unfortunately it changes for the worse thereafter. The dynamics and some of the guitar work reminded me of Talk Talk a bit, but nowhere near as expert in the buliding/release of tension. Not a bad effort overall though.
put her on tv
