who were also all women and therefore totally a fair not-at-all lazy comparison.
this post punk by numbers fancy dress party sound absolutely nothing like the transcendent and joyous Electrelane, you misogynist spunk factory.
Still haven't gotten beyond thinking most of their songs sound like Yeah Yeah Yeahs b-sides.
Confused by the fuss.
they've just had a shit load of money pumped at them mate. you should look in to putting a 10/10 review on this site, might be able to afford a new server or whatever it is.
There's too little substance to get angry, bro
Not that they sounded like Electrelane.
I am a spunk factory though, so we all cool, yeah? *fist bump*
But damn are they a great live band, especially for such a new act. The first hype band in years that come anywhere near to delivering. Very excited for the album.
Certainly Matador for instance weren’t involved until relatively recently. Plus the bulk of early hype came from The Quietus and Stool Pigeon, so I’m not sure who we’re implying got PRed here but the Pigeon and tQ aren’t exactly notorious for their lack of integrity.
Savages are pretty sound, open-minded people with some kind of desire to broaden young people’s frames of cultural reference, and I can’t name any other new band I’d rather see on the cover of NME. They’re fucking great live and the album’s not bad either.
Think they've benefited from changing their PR intermittently, it's a good strategy to get more reach for the same money.
The album could suffer from being over-hyped, but as a unit they play very well, have good songs and stage presence. I think they'd happily take the exposure and change peoples minds from a stage. You'll struggle to avoid them this year, that's for sure.
Don't think I've had a single PR email about them??
