What the fuck?
Seriously, what the fuck is this shit?
Pure Reason Revolution could be the most pointless band in the history of the world, ever.

People in indie dens probably shouldn’t throw mortars or be caught up in style over substance, but there is nowhere else to start. Bands on major labels, with managers who aren’t blind and dressing rooms which contain mirrors should no longer have such rubbish Stones-feathered haircuts done by their mums. Did seeing Jet on What Sadie Did Next teach us nothing? And to make matters slightly less bad, they hide behind some great projections because they look like sweet-bracelet wearing BiS fans who’ve grown into stage barrier hugging Cooper Temple Clause nerdlingers.

Clearly Yes and Tool DVDs taught Pure RR something or other. As did being in Barfly circuit haunters Gel. The results, however, are utterly baffling and as atrocious as bombing a city of innocents trying to kill one man whose miles away being a mole in a hole.

After the sixth minute of the first indulgence (which went on for some 10 minutes, as did the rest of it!), it’s only clear that this is the biggest waste of corporate lucre since someone signed The Datsuns for one album, for a million quid. They make pop songs, which stand no chance whatsoever of ever getting anywhere near the radio. I’m completely at a loss unless the sole reason they’ve been signed is because the a&r wants to fuck the girl singer?! Seriously, can someone out there please explain the point of big bland cheesy sounds over plagiarised prog and regurgitated post-rock, when you make music which will never make sense to any short attention span Outkast fan.

If you’re an aging rocker and fancy taking your tarty bleached biker wifey to something she might deem cool, then this band are for you, and you only. Everyone else, fear not! Count your lucky ducks as they’ll be dropped quicker than you can say Menswe@r’s second album!

Pure Reason Revolution

I quite enjoy their pseudo-prog gayness.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

This review seems quite unfair, booo.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

if you were a septic clit you'd be an angry little beaver too!

Pure Reason Revolution

rosie and jim
rosie and jim
rosie and jim
woah oh woah

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Is that one of their songs? Good idea for a cover, that.

These lot do seem completely pointless though. Rather souless, if you want to be academic.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Rosie and Jim was a Gel song. Gel were ace !
Gel lead singer is now in Pure reason revolution ( i think... ). PRR are awful !

Pure Reason Revolution

Who is this Septic Clit>?
This doesn't sound like Sean.

Pure Reason Revolution

oh how very funny i must say. does anyone not remember mr abusive from melody maker?
what a load of rubbish this review is!

Pure Reason Revolution

I've rather enjoyed them when I've seen them live.

Pure Reason Revolution

they are a good band, just because it's not indie dance.

Pure Reason Revolution

Saw them support Mew i think it was. They were shit.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Too true, bloody awful they were

Pure Reason Revolution

i saw them last night in leicester with iLiKETRAiNS and they both impressed me very much.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

wow. what an utterly pointless review.i guess the name septic clit is in the right ball-park-he/she seems like a cunt.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

I saw them at the charlotte too.

they were really good, and i went to this gig on the basis of their performances supporitng mew....

...AND their single, 'bright ambassadors' (which got 5/5 in a DiS review)

This is an awful review.

Pure Reason Revolution

i saw them supporting the dears, i greatly enjoyed them.
x

Pure Reason Revolution

Obviously not a critic as there is no critical content. Septic Clit (obviously related to a cunt) has a big chip on his/her shoulder. Maybe it is jealousy because he/she can't understand relatively complex music nor can concentrate for more than half a minute. Clit, there's more to a critique than 'wank', 'crap', 'fuck' and totally unnecessary innuendo for music that you don't understand.
Tell you what, septic clit, go fucking top yourself you wank twat cunt shitball fuckpig (hey, it works for me!) and give us all a laugh

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

It's a shame that DiS seems to be slowly losing its plot. Sean, please say this is not your review, because this is a fucking pathetic piece of................journalism????

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

I also have to say that DiS of late (the last few months) seems to be going a bit downhill. Take this how you want but it does come up in conversation quite often around the place. You do have credibility in the field of music journalism but I would hate to see DiS become less relevant.

I honestly think you guys (DiS top people - namely) should have a bit of a think about this sort of shit. This moves you backwards.

Pure Reason Revolution

Hmm.. so an inevitable ask-back for DIS' very own red jetson (yawn) as support on the next prr tour you ungrateful fucks.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Redjetson are good.

Pure Reason Revolution

you stupid err...clit. you've missed the point by about a mile. pure reason revolution are a fantastic band.
i've lost all respect for DiS; go fuck yourselves

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

A single review and you lose all respect?
It's about opinions, you know - read other PRR pieces on this site and tell me they're all like this.
See: positivity.
As for comments about this site going downhill, I've got to ask what articles you've been reading; the quality, to my mind, has improved these past six months or so, and continues to do so.
But, like I said, it's all about opinions.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

I completely agree with you on the quality of DiS articles.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Yes. May I refer you all to the DiS review of the "Bright Ambassadors..." single.

Pure Reason Revolution

absolute tripe.

This review is absolutely awful. I have to say that I generally like DiS reviews, and have a deep-felt-hatred for 90% of the pretentious wankers who comment on the articles.

But just this once, I am with the majority here. I've never heard anything by PRR. This review does absolutely nothing to put me off them, make me want to hear them, or indeed know anything more about them, other than the fact that they have indie-boy haircuts and used to be in Gel.

A waste of time.

Pure Reason Revolution

What the Fuck?!
What the fuck is this shit?!

Obviously the writer of this article has shoved so much White Riot up their nostrils that it has not only has it bloked up their whole scinus area but it must have also blocked his urinary track as the amount of piss coming out of their mouth is unbelievable. I was at this gig, and Pure Reason Revolution were fucking awesome. I think it was envy on the writers part as they blew RedJetson right out of the water and they want to bring PRR down in the hope that 'their little band' will rise above them. Redjetson ok some of the music is good, but the vocals are lack luster and boring. Pure Reason Revolution are miles ahead of 'your' band so when you next look up from your mirror with your note in hand do us all a favour and rack yourself up another line and leave the music journalism to someone who can actually do it!

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Please:
Don't bother signing up for a single post that comprises another meaningless rant against some guy/girl you've never met and have a differing opinion to.
Worthwhile posters are welcomed; this is pointless.
Go vent your spleen elsewhere, street teamer.
I assume you are one...?

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Hello. I'm in redjetson.

A long time ago I accepted that some people will like what we do, others won't. The same goes for any band - it's all about opinion.

I feel uncomfortable with people trying to turn the show at the ICA into some kind of PRR Vs redjetson show, as it was absolutely not. There is no bad feeling whatsoever between our two bands and we're really very very happy that PRR invited us to play with them - we're really grateful.

It's a shame that 'fans' want to try and turn it into a competition. Of course, people may not agree with the DiS review and that's fine.

The above review has nothing to do with redjetson and as Mr Diver said, it's all opinion. If your opinion is that PRR are awesome and we suck, that's perfectly valid, but please don't try to make out that our bands are in competition. We just want to play some shows together and hopefully the audience will get something out of it.

Why can't we all just accept that people have differing opinions and get along?

Pure Reason Revolution

'Worthwhile posters are welcome; this is pointless' think that works for the article as well to be fair. I have seen PRR live quite a few times and they have never failed to impress.

I normally come to this site and read reviews and thats it, but this made me sign up to air my view, because it is the most amount of complete gobshite i have read in a single article.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

That's fair enough for me.
Welcome aboard.

Pure Reason Revolution

This has all the grammatical traits of one of Sean's reviews: "...a man WHOSE miles away..." but I'm guessing he's not stupid enough to produce something with such a pathetic spine of argument through it, dismissing a band on the strength of their haircuts, record deal, genre and lack of commerciality.

Whoever did write it makes themselve look pretty silly obsessed as they are with the band beng on a major label (Sony) and unable to get airplay.

There must be at least three references to 'corp funds'. So what? It's the same label as Mew. The Kaisers are funded by Universal. Bloc Party by V2.

And when was the last time The Mars Volta got 'airplay'? Can anyone envisage people driving home with Redjetson or I LIke Trains buffing their radios? Of course not.

Pure Reason Revolution are a great band, it just takes a little more thinking to understand it than some people sadly have.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

You love PRR and then couldn't accept this live review. No problem !
But this :'it just takes a little more thinking to understand it than some people sadly have' is quite stupid !

Pure Reason Revolution

I have no strong feelings about PRR, except i was slightly pissed off that they got to support Mew on the first mini-tour and then again on the more extensive dates. I want to take in as many new bands as possible.

Pure Reason Revolution

I like PRR (and Redjetson) so I am biased. However I can't see that this review was of any use to anyone. I use reviews to get a feel of what a band I know little of are about. Surely nobody can get anything out of a review which is just an angry rant?

It seems a shame to me that someone can get so angry about music. That review had all the substance of the kind of argument I'd have with rival football fans after six pints of lager.

Good luck to PRR and sympathies to the article author.

Pure Reason Revolution

Hands up who thinks "Mike Diver"'s real name is Septic Clit.
The reason I said I have lost respect for DiS is because the level of inconsistency displayed on DiS is laughable. One minute you're praising PRR to the point of worship, the next you're calling them "shit" and "pointless"...don't you have editorial meetings?
PRR are great, we should be happy that a major label is backing something so unconventional, not eagerly awaiting their demise.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Mike Diver is not Septic Clit - FACT. Oh and tum ti tum.

As for inconsistency, you may notice their reviews have been written in the past by different people.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

I am so offended.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

you are so gay

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

What's that got to do with anything you fucking homophobe?

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

i'm not a homophobe. i like it.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Heee heee heee...

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

"The reason I said I have lost respect for DiS is because the level of inconsistency displayed on DiS is laughable. One minute you're praising PRR to the point of worship, the next you're calling them "shit" and "pointless""

I always thought that this was the beauty of DiS - it's not run by Mr Big who tells the writers what to think/write and which bands to love/hate - it's REALISTIC that different writers have differing opinions! I like that.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Agreed that allowing writers independence of thought is a good thing but doesn't some sort of checking of peoples work take place to ensure it's worth publishing?
I'm still amazed that something so hateful could be posted.

Re: Pure Reason Revolution

Fair enough - hate ain't great.

PRR

Honestly, what's the point of writing reviews like this? If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. Here's a band who aren't afraid to make music that's a bit different, that isn't to everyone's taste, and you slate them. I've seen the band twice, and both times they were great.

I just wish there was a website where reviewers were reviewed, because you'd be for it.

Thankyou and goodmorning

Re.

I want to read the opinions of someone who writes well. Depending on how well they write is how much I will consider what they say.
