...didn't really go to review this gig, but I was so impressed that I felt I had to give Goldrush the big UP. Given that a certain Steve Lamacq was dancing to pretty much the whole show somewhere to the left of me, I can only infer that the stars are shining favourably on this likeable bunch.

..the music... you know the way that Neil Young and Nick Drake can (or could) sing a dreamy summery sounding song and somehow encapsulate the whole of life.... is the word I am looking for pathos? Goldrush can do that too.... it's an uncommon talent to be able to cover darker deeper things and yet still SOUND sweet. I guessed that there is some deliberate intent here, since the name of the band surely MUST refer to the Neil Young album 'After The Goldrush'...
I prefer Goldrush to that other pathos laden band of these times, Coldplay... they are better live and aren't so fixated on sounding like Jeff Buckley. Goldrush are original and simultaneously walking timeless territory.... a fine young band, and one to watch... you can catch them at their own Truck Festival, at Steventon in Oxfordshire on 21st July, and also at the Reading (and Leeds) Festival in August...
