“Can you feel the love in this room?”, a topless Brandon Boyd asks. The response from the crowd is obvious.

Kids. Everywhere. The average age here is probably 15. Little kids, with their baggy pants and their hoodies, all jumping up and down like crazy, like putty in the hand of tonight’s headliners Incubus.

After a highly fun and energetic set from support 311, the lights go down as the audience chant in unison. Five guys walk onstage, pick up their instruments and prepare to blast the audience with their tunes. Breaking into Nice To Know You, the lights hit the stage, the crowd roars and the band start to play at one of their biggest UK shows ever.

“This is kinda weird for us. A little while back we were playing at the Camden Underworld”, Brandon tells the audience. He then thanks them all for coming along. Bless.

Guitarist Mike Enziger, with his fuzzed up hair, starts off most songs, and not even more than 3 seconds into the tracks, the fans know what song is being played. The highlight is when Mike and Brandon get all acoustic on us and play a couple of numbers including hit single Drive. This is definitely the best moment of the gig, especially when bassist Alex, drummer Jose, and super-cool DJ Chris all come in at the end.

Ah, but what is this? Is that a drum Brandon has around his waist? It certainly is, well, for a couple of songs anyway. And although you can’t really hear it much, it still sounds good when you can (or maybe that is just because it seems to be making his trousers come down a little bit on his waist).

Tonight’s gig was great. Wembley Arena is usually thought of as too big, where the band can’t connect with the audience. Incubus are different. The crowd were having fun, we were having fun, although after seeing them tonight it did make you wonder what they were like at the Underworld.

Incubus - London Wembley Arena

yeah. it was WICKED last night!
:o)

Re: Incubus - London Wembley Arena

i dunno. it felt weird seeing them in such a huge place... sigh.

Incubus - Manchester Apollo

I went on friday and yeah, it was amazing. I didn't think Drive was the highlight though! I'd say The Warmth was :) or the bit where brandon kneeled on the edge of the stage singing and slowly unbuttoning his shirt/rubbing his chest in a really smiley cheesy way which made all the males within eyeshot want to projectile-vomit in his face. Smmooooooth!

A past hidden career as a chip'n'dale perhaps? :)

Re: Incubus - Manchester Apollo

Re: Incubus - Manchester Apollo

Re: Incubus - Manchester Apollo

i agree he is very over-rated. and i did see the similarities with the Hanson concert i went to when i was 12... lots of over-hormonal screaming girlies...

Re: Incubus - Manchester Apollo

This one girl was screaming "Brandon" repeatedly behind my left ear. I turned round and screamed "Shut the fuck up" once. That was my story.

Re: Incubus - Manchester Apollo

Wow this bizarre phenomenon must've escaped me!
Everyone in my stand looked at least 3 years older than me (apart from the grandad next to me who sat with his arms crossed for the whole gig after getting mad that everyone blocking his view by standing up). I came across very few little girls screaming Brandon (I don't see what all the fuss is about...), the only thing I saw people screaming was the lyrics, even to SCIENCE songs. Good vibe where I was.

311 were shit weren't they though? What was up with that guy in the white trousers and his chicken-dance???

Highlights - The Warmth (I agree with whoever said that before), Nebula, Are You In?, Make Yourself. But no Favourite Things or Anti-Gravity...!!!

The thing is

that he really really is that attractive. As well as being a great musician. I really need to see them live. *sigh*
