A much smaller crowd turned up than I expected at Bedford Esquires. I guess word has not yet spread about the excellence that is Goldrush.

Whilst there is still a certain shyness, the confidence has visible grown in front man Robin, no doubt brought about by the sheer class of tunes Goldrush have to offer.

There is a simple magic in the sound these guys create. Sure it's not original and doesn't exactly push back musical boundaries. But all that goes out the window when you hear these guys play. The lyrics and music are many things, delightful, warm, charming, honest, and above all they just bring a smile to your face.

Song after song, tonight is an effortless demonstration of perfectly crafted tunes. From opener Love Is Here, through Landscape, Same Picture the same resplendent theme is laid down. Goldrush are very, very good. Set closer 'Let You Down' is amazing and the quality emerging from Garo's guitar is tonight, mesmerising.

We are treated to an encore tonight - judging by the bands reaction not something they are accustomed to - yet it is for everyone, a real treat. 'Don't Bring Me Down' can only be described as legendary. One of the finest, most hopeful and uplifting songs I have ever heard. It's presented in a more driven format tonight, and lapped up by the crowd, one or two of which obviously know their Goldrush history!

Goldrush are a gem who seem to have remained largely undiscovered - this is a joy to all those who have already had the pleasure - however, this can't go on for too long. Goldrush are a band to fall in love with... fall in love with them now.
