I was blown away by Twofold tonight. Which is no mean feat considering I witnessed the mighty Twelve Hour Turn yesterday, and thought I had no room left for amazement. 4-way vocals, super riffage, snappy everything with hooks a-plenty, there isn’t really anything not to like about them. And it’s really nice to see a band on this side of the pond with the kind of passionate gruff melodic dynamo-core that’s on par with the No Idea (awesome) roster. Who don’t emulate those bands either, but put a British or whatever twist on it. Twofold aren’t a band that you should go and see just because you could label them a UK alternative for the impatient Small Brown Bike fan though (even though that’s hardly a bad label to have), but because you can hear the progression from the G.A.S. Drummers split, onwards and upwards. And it sounds good.

Twofold - Kingston Peel

Twofold completely and utterly suck. They're so mind-numbingly derivative it makes me want to laugh my guts up.

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

Twofold are basically the best hardcore / punk band in the country...frankly i dont think anyone comes close.

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

that could easily be true man...

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

I think it is true. Twofold are the nuts, can't wait to hear all the new stuff they're doing with Larry HR.

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

he did the split with them and lucky 13 didnt he? that sounding pretty rocking man!

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

They were at the Peel on November 9th, with Shoe!, Archie and the Instincts and Lucky13. Well, Lucky13 were there, but Dave did an acoustic set because their drummer had fallen of his skateboard and broken his wrist.

It was a great night. Shoe! started things of with some wonderfully melodious riffing. The Archies I find a bit samey. But they seemed to go down well.

Dave did a 6 song set, which included Strangers Stories of the new Ltd edition CD. But what made the set for me were the covers of The Cure's In Between Days and Billy Bragg's A New England. Top Stuff!

And if that wasn't enough Twofold then came on and blew the roof off. New stuff and old, it all sounded fucking great. The sound was good, with Larry Hibbit taking the desk for the evening.

Plus it was FREE!

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

I'd heard about Dave's cover versions. I'd love to hear those. I'd also like to see Twofold again, they fucking rock.

Larry's done some great records already, especially Twofold/L13, and the last Stapleton CD was fantastic. He did sound for Garrison on the last Hundred Reasons tour too.

Re: Twofold - Kingston Peel

Yeah. I went to the first night at the ULU . VFG!
