The Bubble Project are weird…down right weird. They make the most ungodly racket known to man tonight, yet still manage to leave you smiling instead of cowering in the corner as pockets of noise are interspersed with melodies that well up inside of you before ripping out your innards…just to remind you that these four young men and one woman on stage should be handled with care…falling into a false sense of security before getting your ears removed by a wall of jagged noise. They write songs about falling in love…they write songs about falling out of love…utterly shambolic and twisted yet strangely beautiful at the same time.

Nev Clay is a man in his mid-40s who writes songs about growing up and living on a Newcastle council estate. Nev is a little of a local treasure and celebratory round these parts…his album was in the own mans words ‘critically ignored’ yet I find myself here in a pub of about 40 people most of whom are sat on the floor listening to music that could makes up the fabric of a warped dream…a take on the world from a man from Newcastle…but it is a take on the world that shows it in its fascinating array of shades and colours.
