I Own Kings are goddamn cool. And that's a good start.

To be in the best band in the world, there are pretty much two pre-requisites; firstly you've gotta look the bomb. That's a big 15-megaton bomb. Secondly, you have to sound amazing. "Well, duh!" say thee… But how many bands do you know that combine the both? Exactly. IOK have a lot of hair and most importantly, they have sideburns. Plenty of. Think TCTC but not hanging out at Trash all the time. Yeah, I know, that's pretty cool.

Musically, they rock a pfhat one. Its unashamed RAWK but with nice textury bits and clever stuff. Think RHCP and Incubus with ATD-I, but without any of the dreariness of modern day Chillis or the yawnful muso musings of Incubus. AND I saw them without their fifth member, so there is more to come. And that more is at the DiS gig at the Windmill on the 21st. With Jetplane Landing. Oh yes.

Headline band, S.Rock Levinson sound like "a bus filled with leopards crashing into a machete factory". Got that? No points for guessing that this band rock, but a gold star to Levinson for rocking the hardest, and kicking all the other shoutypowerchordstartstop noise mongers into touch. They are playing the Hope and Anchor, but they have presence, fans, tunes and possibly presents too. Why are they only playing this public house's basement? Don't ask me, ask all the blind/dumb/deaf talent scouts at the gig that night. Oh, I see. There weren't any. Clever.
